1) He got traded away to prevent Alex Smith's concern about his starting job. If Shaun Hill remains in the team, he will more likely to compete with Alex Smith for the starting job. Also, the trade of Shaun Hill will boost Alex Smith's confidence. This statement has confirmed by Coach Mike Singletary.

2) It was Scot McCloughen who made this abrutly trade. Jed York wasn't pleased with that and going to demote him. Instead of tarnishing his reputation, he quit the job. Scot admitted the reason was he wanted Alex Smith to be the only best QB in the team.

3) Most 49ers fans still support Alex Smith, even Shaun Hill outperformed Alex Smith. Right now, these fans regretted the departure of Shaun Hill after realizing the 49ers went 1-5 with Alex Smith. They even admitted that the 49ers would be 5-1 or 5-2 if Hill remains the starter.

Yes that guy got fired that might have been the reason but I am pretty sure that wasn't the ONLY reason he got fired that could have been the nail in the coffen.

And how would anyone know what they would be IF they didn't trade Hill. That s not a FACT that is a WHAT IF.

The FACT is he is not there now so you told someone else to move to this years schedule you need to also. Regarding what i bolded first, although it was only the first game, Stafford was throwing the ball fairly well until Peppers took him out. I don't see why your arguing that Stafford shouldnt start over Hill...If Stafford shouldnt start over a journey man QB who is 30, why even draft Stafford?

I dont know why Im posting in this thread, but Im a 49ers fan and would rather have Alex Smith as the starter then Shaun Hill. Hill is a good back up QB but nothing more. I feel Alex is just the same a Hill. A good back up, but to say they would be 5-1 with Hill is crazy. Its not Alex Smith fumbling twice against Philly (Gore), Having passes hit off your hands for picks against Seattle (Crabtree), or fumbling the int against Atlanta (Clements). There D has been pretty terrible in every game except the Raiders. Guess thats Smiths fault too . Also there Oline play as been terrible this season pass blocking. Hill has no mobility to escape a pass rush, so unless he was throwing the ball as soon as it is snapped, he would lead the league in sacks.

Hill has an outstanding WR in Det. Never had a top WR while he was in SF. Plus the Lions like the throw the ball, where SF wants to run the ball. Also played in his coordinators offense while he was in Minnesota, where the 49ers have a diffents coordinator every year

I dont care why he got trade never debated you on that. The debate is he is better than Stafford which he is not. And you and the fans say miners would be 5-1 with him is not a fact.
