It's time for the update from the month of my birth... MARCH! And what a month it was... I hit a major milestone this month, and two other smaller ones as well! Read on, please...
As much as I complain about their high prices and awful AWFUL customer service and repoir with anyone and everyone who comes into contact with them, this month's total is basically brought to you by Burbank Sportscards. In case you couldn't tell, this is, in no way, an endorsement of their store, just a pure statement of fact that most of the cards I received this month came from them.
As I mentioned in the opening, March is my birthday month, with my birthday falling on the 20th. It's my custom to purchase any serial numbered Matt Ware card as they are listed on any of the major sites I check everyday (COMC, ebay, Beckett's marketplace, Sportlots, etc.), but I usually let all the non-serial numbered cards of his sit for a bit until I come into some unexpected windfall, or my birthday. In this case, and in most cases, my birthday came far before the windfall. I decided to clean out Burbank Sportscards' Beckett store, so 51 of this month's 69 cards were once theirs.
The totals:
69 cards added in March 2011. (2,935 total) Only 14 different cards this month... Pretty odd, considering last month I had such a variety of cards. I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel, as I am only 65 cards away from the 3K milestone!
55 RC cards added March 2011.
7 serial numbered cards added March 2011. (1,150 total)
5 serial numbered RC cards added March 2011. (728 total)
HIGHLIGHTS:
Just two "rare" cards this month for me, both serial numbered 100 or less.
2004 Leaf Rookies and Stars Longevity Gold #177 /99. This is my 16th of the 99 made (16.2% of the total made).
2004 Reflections Red #264 /100. This finally puts me at the 10% mark for this card, as it is my 10th.
MILESTONES:
First, the two minor ones...
I hit the 250 card mark on not one, but two of Matt's cards in March 2011. The race to 300 for his 3 most plentiful cards is closer than ever! The new additions to the 250 club are his 2004 Bowman #184 and 2004 Topps Total #424. The race shapes up as follows:
255 - 2004 Bowman #184
255 - 2004 Upper Deck #236
254 - 2004 Topps Total #424
Amazing how close after almost 8 years of collecting!
And of course, the big milestone... 2,900 CARDS!!! I think it is a real possibility that by June 1, I could be at 3,000 cards. Only 65 to go!
In other news, I have basically decided to get out of the hobby altogether, with the exception of Matt's cards, my Boise State GU PC, a few sets I am working on here and there, and nice Mets patches of 1962-1989 players. I will be setting up a trade/sale thread soon, so be on the lookout for great deals!
Thanks so much for checking the update thread, and I'll see you all back here May 1 for the April update! Comments are always welcome and appreciated.

Nice milestone. I was so bored today I organized my eddie george collection and found out I had around 1500 with about 500 variations. 3000 is a huge milestone. Do you find lots of Matt ware on ebay that help your collection?

oooh... a fun game! which card will be 3,000? my money is on 2004 Leaf Rookies and Stars...
thanks! love the new banner!
bah! PM coming!
I find roughly 2-3 Matt Ware cards a month. yup. 2-3. not 23. or 203. that's it. so I make it a priority to win everything I can elsewhere, like COMC, beckett, sportlots, etc.

Well, its time for the APRIL update!
A fun month, as cards came in relatively frequently, and a major update to the memorabilia portion of my collection as well! I will also be providing a link at the bottom of this post to a fun poll I started. I am getting ever closer to the amazing 3,000 card milestone of my Matt Ware Supercollection. If I have another month like April, I'll be there in May!
The totals:
38 cards added in April 2011. (2,968 total) 12 different cards this month. A few I don't see too often, and now I am only 32 cards away from 3,000.
30 RC cards added April 2011.
6 serial numbered cards added April 2011. (1,156 total)
5 serial numbered RC cards added April 2011. (733 total)
HIGHLIGHTS:
No cards this month serial numbered /100 or less, but I did get a few I don't see very often:
2004 Bowman Chrome Red Refractors #163 /210. This is the 39th I have been able to add, but not many since about 2006. 18.6% of the print run.
2004 Upper Deck Finite HG RC #217 /275. This is a surprisingly difficult set to find Matt, as there were over 150 rookies, most numbered /275 and some even /99, but you only got 4 rookies per box. This wasn't an all too popular product either, so singles didn't hit the market very often. This was my 24th of the 275 produced, just 8.7% of the run, and one of the lowest percentages I have of any of Matt's serial numbered cards.
Also, I finally found one of the three BGS graded cards that are on the registry that I do not own, a 2004 Leaf Rookies and Stars RC #177, graded a GEM MINT 9.5. One of the two left I know I will never own, as it's in a set of 2004 Bowman Chrome Gold Refractors, all graded. The only other one is a 2004 Topps Chrome Refractors BGS 9.5. Hopefully it'll come my way some day!
MILESTONES:
One major memorabilia milestone to share:
Obtained directly from Matt, a game used 2009 Cardinals Home Red jersey. Here are some pics...

In other, MUCH more important news, tonight, it broke a few hours before I posted this that U.S. Special Forces found and killed Osama bin Laden. I know that there are many servicemen and women who frequent this board and, occasionally, my threads. Let me be hopefully just one of many who offer you my utmost gratitude for your service, thanks for all you do, and congratulations on this victory. Without your service and dedication, our freedoms, our ability to have silly forums about small pieces of cardboard, mesh material, and scribbled names, would certainly not be possible and enjoyed. Again, thank you.
See you all in a month for the May update!
