Here we go with the MAY update!
To be totally honest, not much to see here this month, with only a baker's dozen (13) cards this month. A rather discouraging month, to say the least, but at least I am that much closer to 3,000.
The totals:
13 cards added in May 2011. (2,981 total) 8 different cards this month. I am only 19 cards away from 3,000.
13 RC cards added May 2011. At least ALL of this month's cards were RC's.
7 serial numbered cards added May 2011. (1,163 total)
7 serial numbered RC cards added May 2011. (740 total)

Well, that's it. A rough month on the Matt Ware Supercollection front, but hey, here's to hoping we can all celebrate card 3,000 in our June update! See you then!

I've gone through some rough stretches in the 8 years I have collected Matt, but the last few months have been down right sad. An even worse month than May. Not a lot to report here, but here goes...
The JUNE update!
The totals:
8 cards added in June 2011. (2,989 total) 6 different cards this month. I am now 11 cards away from 3,000.
8 RC cards added June 2011. At least ALL of this month's cards were RC's, for the second month in a row.
2 serial numbered cards added June 2011. (1,165 total)
2 serial numbered RC cards added June 2011. (742 total)
HIGHLIGHTS:
None. Period.
MILESTONES:
Again, none.
8 cards. Now just 11 from the 3,000 card mark, but a little disheartened because of the last 2 months. Let's just hope I can pass 3K in July. Thanks for checking out the update this month!

Well... it may have taken a while... like 2 months longer than I thought... but I finally made it! 3,000 total Matt Ware cards in the collection! Congrats to jdio13 and chajones, who correctly (along with myself!) guessed that it would be a 2004 Leaf Rookies and Stars RC that would get the collection into the 3K territory... sort of.
Why sort of? Turns out I might have miscounted... In preparing the July update, I decided to do a master recount, something I normally do just once a year, as I assume my numbers stay accurate throughout the year. It appears that somehow, I was 2 cards over in my count. I don't remember what the 9th card was in the package I received from COMC, so we'll just pretend that I was accurate all along. But... you will see the total adjusted accordingly in my signature to accurately reflect the new total... which stands currently at 3,011 cards.
Other than passing the 3,000 card mark, I received four BEAUTIFUL sketch/art cards directly from artist Jim Kyle, who has worked for Topps and many other companies supplying sketch cards to various products. While they took several months longer than anticipated, the cards I received were more than worth the wait. I am also including them in my overall count.
I also received back the Matt Ware cards I sent in via the SCF BGS submission group, and I was very pleased! There were 7 cards in total, and I received 5 9's and two 9.5's! Best of all, the two 9.5's I got back were both printing plates!
The 9's were a 2004 SPx printing plate, 2004 Leaf Rookies and Stars Longevity 001/999, 2004 Topps Chrome Black Refractors 001/100, 2004 SPx Spectrum Gold 21/25 (his jersey number), and 2004 Upper Deck Exclusives Vintage parallel /10.
Overall, a great month! Here goes...

The totals:
24 cards added in July 2011. (3,011 total [that's minus the 2 that I was off previously]) 16 different cards this month, including the 4 sketch cards! I am now 989 cards away from 4,000. (why not start early...?)
17 RC cards added July 2011.
5 serial numbered cards added July 2011. (1,171 total [again, updated to reflect corrections])
4 serial numbered RC cards added July 2011. (746 total)
HIGHLIGHTS:
7 graded cards back from BGS, including 2 9.5's!
4 new amazing sketch cards!
MILESTONES:
3,000 cards!!! FINALLY. Now on to 4,000!
In other news, here's hoping that Matt signs back with the Cardinals, or any other team for that matter. He has spent 7 years in the NFL, played in 2 Super Bowls, and is currently a free agent, the NFL's version of unemployed.
