I've got tons of Rainbows.... but my Player doesn't get any of these ultra SPd ones. Last year there were only 3 cards of him made, so far just 2 this year.... and I'm not expecting any more.
I've got lots where there are 5 or 6 different versions of the card, but not a lot of 1/1s for me to chase.
As for closest I've come to completing a print run...... 3/5, 5/24, and I think 12/50.

For me it's the Rainbow. One of my player collection guys tends to have 10-20 cards per set, so it's not a small feat to try to put all of them together. I think I'm over halfway there for this year's Artifacts for Carey Price, with most of the outstanding cards being the memorabilia #'d /10 or less. To me something like that is more significant than owning an entire print run of a card #'d /25 simply for the variety factor. Don't get me wrong, if it were a patch card where you know you're going to have some variety as opposed to just an auto or a jersey card, that'd be pretty sweet. You only need to look at LogoPatchCards and his 26(?) Ovechkin Cup RCs to get an idea of how awesome it would be to have a very high volume of one card. Speaking as someone who owns pretty high percentages of a print on a couple cards #'d /10 it's a neat little OCD thing to do in lieu of having more cards of that particular player to collect each season. However, with a budget in mind and wanting to get the full master set of one player and as many cards as possible with the other, I'd like to get as wide a variety of cards as I can.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Rainbow....DEFINATLEY All the card in the print run a exactly the same except the first #. Rainbows usually have more variations.

RGM: Sounds like you and I are of the same mindset. If I had to choose between a card I don't have and a card I have five of already, I'm going for the new one. But going after multiples in a print run does keep me occupied and adds another dimension to my player collecting.
Thanks for all your input so far everyone, I look forward to more!

For sure the rainbow.
Full print runs are not THAT cool. It can be a tough feat depending on the player and the card with regard to cost but every player collector wants the overall numbers I think.
Why the heck would I want 10 of the same card when I can have 1 copy and 9 other different ones?
I dunno, seems elementary to me.

Rainbows and 1/1's get all my attention. If i can get a whole print run that's just icing on the cake.

Andrew and Nucks: why preference to rainbow over print run?
Prime: I'm not saying I'm going to pass on a card I have so I can get a card I already have a handful of. But going after multiples in a print run adds another dimension to my player collecting, I think.

Bumping this long-dormant thread just for some other opinions - this will turn into an article for the next issue of the SCF Magazine. Thanks for your input!

As a player collector I look to have 1 of each card made of my player. I'll pick up doubles of low print runs if I can get them at a small reasonable price, but would much rather have 1 card of each made of my player.
