I hope they end up with game-used cards.....just imagine a part of the skate, outfit....or maybe a piece of the pipe that was used to hit Nancy Kerrigan with.... an autographed version of the "lead pipe"...wow...

Seriously, I am ok with it but if they are redemptions I am NOT ok with it.
UD has a tendency to promise big athletes and stars from non-sports and the like and then never deliver them.
I won't touch redemptions but I am ok with the change in pace.
I still am pining for a Fans of the Game type insert with celebs and their favorite hockey teams. THAT would be AWESOME!Last edited by Prime B; 02-04-2010 at 02:59 PM.

This is still a lot better than when Topps inserted autos of scouts and people from "topps TV" in their products. That was atrocious.

I just don't get why they would insert non sports or non hockey athletes into "hockey card" packs or boxes. I can understand if there is atleast some relevance like stated above me the Celebrity's with there favorite team or maybe take it a step further and have them with their favorite player a dual auto of a celeb and a player like Mike Fischer and Mike Comrie could be cool to have autos with their celeb girlfriends or just whoever the celeb is and their favorite player and a little story why that player is their favorite on the back of the card. How do Presidents, Fossils, or figure skaters have anything to do with hockey? I say if they are going to use non hockey people/items tie them into the sport by including a hockey player on the card with them atleast, so that it would have some interest to everyone it would still appeal to us hockey collectors as well as appeal to their new audience of whatever aspect they want to bring in to the hobby rather than make some of us hockey collectors be like "wow a figure skater card, i used to get these in my sports illustrated for kids magazines when i was younger.......I threw them away back then why would that change now" Sorry for the long post but this subject just really bothers me

Actually Barrie I like the idea of celebs and their favorite teams. That has something to do with the sport and i think it would be very interesting to see where some of their allegience lies.
As for redmptions i know the Shannon Elizabeth ones from champs were redemptions and were never filled and i believe (dont quote me) but the had jennifer tilly autos that they never produced as well.
The only thing figure skating has to do with hockey is the actual skating part. Being called a figure skater in hockey is an insult (which im sure everyone is aware of).

Some people will find anything to complain about UD. I would rather have a new different insert than the same over used players that they use for their inserts.
Nobody will complain when they pull an auto out of product that they said they would not buy and sell it for $100-$200.
