Is this shipping charge excessive?

Though I agree what he is charging for S/H is wrong, but if it is CLEARLY stated in his auctions then leaving him a negative is wrong.

It clearly states how much each auction is, but not for combined. Yes, I should have asked.

That being said, I got the cards in today. Anyone want to venture a guess as to how much shipping was?

Give the seller some slack. His auction terms clearly stated that he charged $1.50 per additional item won. So when you bid on additional auctions from the sellers that start at 99 cents, you automatically are bidding $2.49 - FOR THE CARD AND THE SHIPPING AND HANDLING- it doesnt matter how you want to divide up the costs of shipping and handling - to get the card to you will cost you $2.49 (assuming you win the 99 cent auction).

With the new fee structure, a lot of mid to low volume sellers are having to close up their doors. They are making a lot of their regular Fixed Price Listings auctions to make up for the money they will be charged up front due to the ebay fee structure. Remember, most of these sellers are just like you and me- they are collectors and they sell on ebay in their spare time. Only a few are big time dealers with brick and mortar shops and handle a lot of volume. So give the sellers a break, especially ones that will give you a break.

I agree with the argument that the additional card charge was up front and therefore no neutral or negative should be left.

If on the other hand, the card(s) that you won had a BV of $40 each and you won them with a $0.99 bid with the same shipping charges, this thread would be about a great Ebay steal!

As I have said more than once, I know I should have asked first. But I'm not seeing where in his auctions it clearly says $1.50 per extra card.

Again, it's not the money. It's principle. When I questioned the charges from his invoice, in a nutshell his response was tough $hit bc I got the cards so cheap. If he would have answered with "you should have asked before you bid...", I'd be a lot more sympathetic....since, yes, I should have asked.

My same feelings would apply whether the cards book for $1 or $40. It's the principle.

I looked at the vendor profile (cardnuttz) in the link in post #7 and if this is the right seller, then I do believe that he does state $1.50 per additional card in the 3 auctions that I saw. I'm not saying it's not excessive, but it was advertised. If your winning auctions did not display it, then I think a neutral may be in order.

But as you said, you probably should have asked before bidding. A lot of vendors do combined shipping and their prices really do vary! I think $1.00 - 1.50 is in the average range.

IMHO, $1.50 extra per card (4) is overkill -charging $9 shipping when it only cost $2.38. But, I'll pay for it since I wanted the cards.

It's SHIPPING AND HANDLING. Ie, you never agreed to just pay the actual shipping costs, you agreed to pay the shipping and handling costs. I know it seems rather insignificant, but it means everything.
