No experience with Kent State or anything in Ohio, but here are the schools I went to and my experience with them:

    Crowder College
in Neosho, MO (2002-2004) - nice community college (one of the top CCs in the nation); helped get me acquainted with the college experience before I transferred to a four-year

Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO (2004-2007, B.A. in English; 2010-) - good college, but the new president who took over in 2007 (the year I graduated) has apparently mismanaged a lot of the finances and programs since then, so I've heard more bad things in recent years...not good considering I'm going back there in a week to get a second degree, but hopefully my program isn't affected

Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS (2007-2008) - went there for two semesters of graduate school...not bad, but the program I was in (Teaching English at the Community College) isn't very useful if you're not planning to get a Ph.D afterward, so I never did finish my Master's there

Thanks! Yeah, CCs sometimes get knocked, but they have great practical and transitional value. Not everyone is ready for uni right off the bat.

Grew up in Ohio and had several friends that went there. From what I saw/heard, they all loved it.

I went to a community college before transferring to and graduating from Berkeley. It is definitely an easier transition to "figure things out" instead of going right into a university.

Plus it saved my parents like $10k+

rchurchward- Thanks, so far i havent heard anything to bad about it.

themanshire- yes, Community College saved my parents a lot of money as well. But since i live in illinois oing out of state to Ohio will be a lil bit more expensive.
