I'm definitely intrigued by the information presented so far... I have the same questions as others - are they really hard-signed? are the patches in the product as awesome as the previews?
The price point seems reasonable and it looks like there should be enough good stuff included to keep it selling. I'm a little worried about the production numbers, though... The parallels, etc. may make master set collectors go mad (not because they are picking up parallels, but because of how they will dilute box/case breaks).
Upper Deck may be playing games with their Gordie Howe info, too... Howe has a trademark on his 'Mr. Hockey' name and has chosen not to sign that way for the last few years. I'm not saying this to promote conspiracy theory, but all UD said on Facebook is that UD is the only place you will find autos of 'Mr. Hockey'. They never said you won't find 'Gordie Howe' autographs in other manufacturers products. The Certified checklist shows way too many Howe autos for UD to have an exclusive and not take action very soon...

Guys, can you imagine UD filling a lawsuit against Howe because Howe signs for Panini??? I don't think the NHL/NHLPA would tolerate a card company making troubles to a hockey icon like Gordie Howe!!!!

My personal opinion is indifferent. I would like to see the late-90's Certified come back, that had some great parallels and gloss to the cards....I will, again, reserve my opinion until the actual product is rolled out. Loving the PK Subban though...

I'll be in same class as people here, as having cards in hand to reserve my judgment, but that being said. This is just the beginnings to a long awaited competition that the "Hockey" card hobby has been wanting. The fact that Pannini is jumping out the gates swinging hard, and taking on Victory off the hop just puts it to UD that you better be up on what you bring to the table to go toe to toe with us.
Like every good fight or competition it starts out heavy, but then settles into the innovation stage, and this can mean that card design, and the ever important card quality will improve.....
We will see if the initial rumblings of powerful baby steps from Pannini will pave way to a healthy competition with UD, and we all will benefit in the long run.Searching for: Jagr, Palffy, Stumpel, and Boyd

Although it would let catch up on my Ice Scripts and Frozen in Time sets....I still like Trilogy but bring back the Dual Patch Autos #/5....
And word is, Trilogy will be there next season...
It looks like the tag that shows the size on jerseys...the one that sits at the back of your neck....doesnt even look like a "patch"
Parallels will be the death of player collectors....
Actually - the NHL regulate how many sets come out - A UD representative said there will be less products from UD in 10-11.....so we will not see 2x as many as this past season
THIS IS INSANE -
20 Parallels? Serious? Isnt that what killed collectors in the 90s and made all the cards back then pretty much worthless?
I think the designs are good....of course this is just a preview so we will see more as we go - but I did not see any of them #'d, the jerseys are small...kinda like Private Stock or BAP a while back, and if its actually the size tag on the Broduer...well...they got probably the last possible piece of a jersey that you can get.....unless they start coming out with a "collar" card....

I agree the quantity is insane, but the quantity isn't what killed the value of the cards produced in the 1990s... Value is not there anymore because collectors mainly collect auto/game-used cards, cards only made of cardboard have zero demand, so worthless. Demand disappeared for modern cards only made of cardboard, the hobby changed.

i just came back into collecting after stopping in the late 90's and early 2000's. part of why i left was that i didn't like all those parallel cards - especially from the brands panini has now in other sports (like certified/elite/etc. and their mirror gold, blue, yellow, red, maroon, purple, pink... inserts.) plus, panini just took over basketball this year. all their products had the same 90s looking graphics and bad designs in my opinion. i hope this doesn't happen in hockey!
