But if the reports are true on the Kovy deal..... 102 million over 17 years - that only represents a million per season cap hit. Not exactly a hard pill to swollow for a player of that calibre.

And the Gagne move, yes.... the Flyers didn't get much in return, but they didn't want much. They get a 4th, and minor league dman (well, I've never heard of him - so I assume he's going to the minors). But remember they also signed Zherdev, and that made moving Gagne necessary. The net result is still 1.5 million in cap savings (Simon's 5.5 out, Nikolai @ 4.0). Gagne has been a good player for a lot of years there...... but obviously Holmgren felt that Zheredev + 1.5 in cap space was more valuable.

I understand it was a cap relief decision but I personally think we needed a goalie out of this trade, even if Holmgren was turned away from every proposal he suggested for a goalie that is fine, but if he thinks we're going to the Playoffs again, with all due respect to Leighton and Boucher, then he's mad.
