WHAT IF......................

Columbus won the 2005 Draft #1 overall pick

Quebec didnt trade off Lindros just because he didnt want to play for them

McSorley didnt have a curved stick (Haha- had to throw that one in)

Quebec didnt move to Colorado

No one can afford the 10 million $ man Kovalchuk.....(oh wait - that is currently happening)

Gretzky wasn't traded

Messier didn't help end the Ranger's drought

Orr was also a bust...

Howe had a career ending injury

Konstantinov didn't get in the limo crash

Lidstrom became an engineer instead of a hockey player (that is what he was going to be if hockey didn't work out)

There was no salary cap

Gretzky wasn't great

What separates these situations from the ones in zunato's thread are that his hypotheticals are geared towards possible future trends in the hobby, whereas y'all are proposing counterfactual history. The former is filled with stuff that could happen, while the latter cannot truly be answerable.
