I have said this many times, As a set collector it really bugs me to see all these collectors busting box after box and when you ask about the base they'll say something like "I don't trade base not worth the cost of shipping" or "only looking for GUed,autos, rookies, Sid or Ovy".

I will add that I do keep all my base cards.

Add me a base collector here. I try to get all the Pens and ex Univ of Michigan hockey players produced. It's a tough thing that will prob never be completed but it tends to be in my budget and worth the chase. All the base i dont collect i usually trade off in team lot trades . One of the most fun things to do is to buy a big bulk base lot off someone on here and then go through the cards in the box.
Trading for Steelers,Penguins,Pirates and Michigan players in Michigan uni

Thanks to the USPS Shipping only to US addresses.

Shipping done on Saturdays no matter when the trade is confirmed

    very cool comments

I guess more people collect base more than I thought.

Yeah it's stupid how some people will say "only GU, Autos, Sid/Ovie"

people like that are obviously in it for the money, and not the hobby.

I vintage collect, which in vintage, all you got was base lol

a card is a card, and 70s hockey was awesome!

I've done some good base trades on this site or have used them to even up a deal. Robcynd is right though. Some view them as a nuisance. It's there loss I guess. Although I can't say giving base away to kids is a bad thing.

They take up too much space. As soon as I fill up a 5000 count box, I take them to Goodwill and drop them off.

I pack 10 base into team bags and give them out for Halloween. The kids love them.

Vintage base, when base was all there was, is highly collectible to me (as long as it is a rookie card as I don't collect complete sets).

Modern base, IMO, takes up too much room that I don't have so I stick to insert sets and singles. In any event, I really only accumulate base from pack wars at trader night.

I prefer to look at a colorful patch or a slick auto on a card than stats and a paragraph on the back. I go to tsn.ca or nhl.com or hockeydb or wikipedia for my info needs.
