I hope Panini didn't cut up an Ovechkin rookie jersey. It's a shame they used a 6100 (pre-edge) jersey because Alex would have only wore 12 of them total. Panini didn't even use a photo of Ovechkin wearing that jersey.
That's just my opinion of course but knowing that he will wear plenty more edge jerseys in his career disappoints me.

The pubkic only knows what a population report from MeiGray says.
But let me tell you, knowing some of the inner workings of the game industry, there are a few "extras" that make their way out of the locker room here and there............ fear not, there were a lot more than 12 jerseys for AO over his first two seasons.

It's interesting to see all the comments regarding the lack of an autograph on the shield card - not every shield card in The Cup is autographed. Indeed, there's single and dual shields in the primo UD product that are not signed. It's not as though this is a new development in the hobby.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I agree with this. Also The Cup Dual Shields that aren't auto'd have a blank space for an auto. In fact a lot of Upper Deck cards that have memorabilia then auto/memorabilia parallels have blank spots for autos on the memorabilia version of the card. Take the Cup Foundations as an example of that. Lots more example I could use.
A lot of the Panini criticism is very unfounded and silly. All stickers autos, not enough rookies, too many redemptions, too many parallels, etc are complaints made by huge Upper Deck supporters which is so funny I could die laughing.
Panini has a huge disadvantage and that is being the new kid on the block after 5 years of just Upper Deck. That means some collectors are so loyal to Upper Deck that they won't even give Panini a chance in the world. Everything about Upper Deck is awesome and everything a Panini is horrible when in reality they are really both quite similar except Panini is making Upper Deck be better and improve along with bringing back things Upper Deck stopped doing when they had no competition. Upper Deck S1 is awesome this year with the Retro set adding value. Artifacts though is the same old, same old which can be good and bad depending on what box you get.
I said I was going to boycott Upper Deck and only buy Panini products but I can't boycott Upper Deck as I like some of their products and therefore end up buying them. Really should stop buying boxes but opening boxes and packs is my favourite part of collecting cards even if I lose money (what I paid to the return I could get if I sold all the cards which I don't do) on most box breaks.
This hobby should be about FUN not MONEY! That is why I collect.

The rookie phenoms will have a light blue/ice coloring on the strips part of it.
Here's one:

It is to me like the silver one with just some light blue

Pretty hard to tell that card was a one of one. I hope going forward they would actually introduce a platinum border.
