Delivery conformation may no longer be valid for e-bay - see post #15
I will make additional comments starting on post 15
I havn't sold anything on Ebay in a while but recently I listed a bunch of items on Ebay. Two of these items were won by a member who had very good feedback. 11 days after auctions end HE FINALLY PAID!!!. I shipped that same day and figured I would put down delivery conformation to be safe. Well as some many know, the post office is having some sever issues with mail. This package has been routed to my nearest PO that does routing and has not been updated in 10 days. This happened once all ready with a game that took nearly two weeks to get to New York.
If this member files a complaint with e-bay(isn't it something the one who took for ever to pay is the first to complain)will the proof of same day shipping and his late payment be enough where I shouldn't have to worry about it. I am very aggravated on this issue as I figured 500+ feedback with no negatives shouldn't mean he can take 11 days to send me payment(I sent 3 reminders on the issue and they were all friendly)
Thanks
Jay

You shouldn't have anything to worry about. As long as you have that delivery confirmation you're covered. Even if he files a paypal claim because they haven't shown up, you did your part and have proof and you'll win. I've had this happen before ebay/paypal have been great about it as long as you can provide that DC#. GL

Great, thanks for the quick reply. This is my first batch of items for e-bay in something like 2+ years. They made a big stink about a lot of stuff that it is now the sellers responsibility for a lot of uncontrollable things.
Thanks again GO BADGERS!!

It will be a bit before he can file a claim anyway. I tried to file a claim on an item that I had paid for 21 days earlier and eBay wouldn't let me file until 30 days had passed. Even then you get another 10 days to respond. So ebay won't even look at the claim until 40 days have passed and by then the item should be delivered and if not you have the DC to show that you shipped.

30 days, really!!! That is an awfully long time to wait on anything. I don't think the PO should ever be that slow at all

If you have a valid DC you should be good and yeah they will make him wait some time before he can file. Not sure how much time has passed but stuff usually gets slowed up around the holidays with volume and a number of days they close the USPS.

I don't know how the claim policy used to be on ebay but I have a claim on one of my auctions for an item that was sold 11 days ago. The guy hasn't gotten it yet even though I shipped as soon as he paid and with DC of course but the USPS being what it is these days still hasn't gotten it there. Anyways, its been 11 days since he paid and he opened a claim today.

Well I sold 275ish on ebay. 11 items/10 packages. Two of them are claiming to not receive their items. If I have to reimburse full item cost for both of them I am looking at losing 95 dollars.
Throw in 25 for cost to list on ebay and 30 for paypal fees that would be another huge hit. I offered the one where I didn't DC a refund for 95% of his purchase price so I don't lost out on fees. If he accepts it I will be happy.
I have to fight this 65 dollar claim though. That is too much to lose, plus I got shipping to prove everything.

Do a cancel auction through ebay and your fees will return - if the buyer agrees to cancel the auction too.

yes, if you refund a customers sale price then you should cancel the transaction on ebay and your fees will be returned. you'll also get your paypal fees reserved when you use the refund system on their site.
As far as 95% goes, I wouldn't accept that as a buyer if you have no DC number. Why should he be out 5%? Besides you can get all of your fees reversed. I sell 99% more than I buy on ebay and when I ship something I always DC it if it's something I'm not willing to give a complete refund on or replace if the seller says it never arrived.
Anything over $12-$15 I DC. You should just factor the 80¢ for DC into your shipping fees. That's what I do and I more or less self insure anything under $12. It's rare that I get something that never shows up but if I accept that if it doesn't show it's my responsibility as a seller to give a full refund or replace the item.
