Having been a teacher, I can confirm that there are plnety of 15-year-olds out there who are not only capable of being good traders, but act better than adults in LIFE!

In life, many person like to categorized person into group, so yes some will always judge you by group but I would say even more will judge you by what you actually do. I would not worry, it's part of all we learn in life. Some also will never learn certain things. We can never please everyone.
SCF is a big site but a nice one to learn to trade and have fun. All of us will at time have less fun experience and it happen. I know we work hard in the staff to keep the rotten apple out of SCF, but new one appear. So it a never ending wheel that keep turning. Still most trade were really easy and had very few bad experience. So all in all, if a person is not made to trade with you, there are other ones out there willing to trade for your nice cards.Last edited by CoolHandLuke; 01-02-2011 at 06:35 PM.

People never get back to others at a rate of about 45% of the time. My skin has grown thick.
I've been guilty of it only because somebody wants me to type out a few thousand cards before they declare what they might have for me.

I would have to agree with you there, 45% seems about right. Another thing that really doesn't sit right is when you want to trade for a (particular player) and you say, all i have is what is in my bucket, then someone posts and says i have what your looking for but i only collect high-end Crosby/Ovechkin/Stamkos....etc
I don't think there is anyone on here that would trade a high-end anything for a $5 insert or Jersey.

The original point is well taken: you spend lots of time to ferret out cards someone might need or does need, then the other side doesn't want to offer a fair price/trade or doesn't respond at all. People should appreciate the time it takes to track down cards, especially older or less common ones...and at the very least acknowledge the effort or agree to take them for a reasonable price/trade. I don't mind dealing with younger collectors and hope that they, like everyone else, follow the "Golden Rule" when dealing with someone: treat others like you'd like to be treated. A little courtesy and common sense is all it takes to make the hobby an enjoyable one...forgetting them hurts us all because it makes people think twice about making an effort to help that next person with their PC needs.

The number of people with a bucket or trade list full of nothing, and wanting Auto-Patches of the Top 10 Players, or Hall of Famers is STAGGERING.

Aint that the truth. I like collecting Doughty cards but i would never offer what i have in my bucket for a Auto RC Patch or anything along those lines.

I have made some trades and sales here there and everywhere. I have over 350,000 cards. I was on another site reading a thread about white whales mostly player collectors looking for their whales. It turned out i knew i had 4 or 5 of the cards people were looking for form sets i never finished. I contacted one member if he was still looking for this particular card and he said and had been looking for 5 years for it. I took about hour and half searching through countless 3,500 count boxes to find his card. I contacted him saying i had found the card he was looking for and included a scan of the card and said make an offer. The card booked for something like $60 and his offer was $12. I nearly hit the ceiling. I was so mad that i had spent all that time to find his whale and that was his offer that i asked for his mailing address so i could shred the card and send it his way.Needless to say after that experience i did not bother looking the other whales i know i have or will i ever.
