Biggest Hobby Bust in History!

Ok you guys aren't going to agree with me but in baseball:
No doubt in my mind Kerry Wood I know I know he's still playing and may right it. But never will his cards reach the height they achieved 20 k season too bad for all you cubs fans that paid over premuim to get him.

Football: Lawrence phillips and ryan leaves I'm mean Ryan leaf no bigger bust ever in football! A criminal and a crybaby!

Basketball: Card pricing wise Penny Hardaway thanks shaq! I collect magic so I'm stuck with all his rcs. or Big dog Glenn Robinson who paid that guy!

This is just my opinion but look up there cards and you'll see what I mean.

Yeah they bumbled that one away. The Rams also picked Eddie Kennison and Tony Banks when they could of got Eddie George with the first pick...which would of made George the first and not the 3rd RB drafted. Then picked up Marvin Harrison with their other first rounder...which was drafted right after Kennison. And they could of picked up Mushin Muhammed, Randall Godfrey, or Brian Dawkins with thier 2nd rounder. But then again, that was the days when the Rams were the Cardinals of the NFL.

Okay...here's a couple of notable Draft Busts:

1989 - Tony Mandarich - T - Michigan State - 1st Rd. 2nd Overall - Green Bay

The monster tackle. The Jonathan Ogden, Orlando Pace, Robert Gallery type of player that never developed. Sad huh?

1990 - Blair Thomas - RB - Penn State - 1st Rd. 2nd Overall - N.Y. Jets

Just imagine if the Jets had got Emmitt Smith. Sad but Emmitt was the second RB taken. Others that could of been taken is Leory Hoard, Rodney Hampton, Chris Warren, Larry Centers, Barry Foster, or Terry Allen. All RB's (IMO) that had better careers than this guy.

1983 - Todd Blackledge - QB - Penn State - Kansas City - 1st Round 7th pick

Come on...this was one of the biggest bummer in draft history. And hobby bust. HOF's Jim Kelly went 14th and Dan Marino went 27th. Roger Craig went 49th.

As far as a HOBBY bust, I'd say it's not a player but the Hall Of Fame. I remember working tables in the early to mid 90's and it was always, "That guy's card is going to go up once he's in the Hall, so get them now!", and it never happened. Brett, Ryan and all those guys, their card values never went up.

Another HUGE bust not related to a player was Stadium Club 1st Day Issues. Those baby's were GOLD at first, but then people started cutting out the hologram on crappy cards and sticking them to Griffey's, and the next thing you know my once $400 1993 Nolan Ryan isn't worth $40. People avoided them like the plague.

In terms of the hobby, Brien Taylor is the King of Busts. There were a few others, I think there was a guy named Bob Hamelin or something (played for KC I believe...) who won ROY and 2 years later was out of Baseball. There was another guy whose name completely eludes me now but I remember selling his 1995 Topps Traded rookie for $50 and it's worth about $4 now, and it wasn't Beltran.
