Anyone got IP graphing horror stories?
When I do AHL games, there always seems to be someone who is very odd and just annoys you.
Starting last year there is this one guy who will come and just talk your ear off, even the players ears off, he's only been coming to games as of the past 2 years. So I've been graphing the team for plenty of years. But it will annoy me how he'll somehow convince players to give him a stick. When I know better and don't ask repeatedly like this guy. Backfired on me just the other day, I was going to remind a guy of a stick and low and behold Mr. Talkative asks him, so I didn't bother. The player actually I think pretended to go inside and look but he "didn't have any broken ones"
It just ticks me off how I've been doing this for years and you'll get guys who ask instantly and get one, maybe just to shut the guy up or who knows.
Ah I just can't stand it how he acts like he knows all about the team, granted he has only been coming the past 2 years, sure maybe he followed the team but come on leave these guys alone. They don't need to hear everything you have to say. One game he told me about one players car like "Oh he doesn't have to drive that car"-speaking of a guy who had just a typical everyday car, nothing expensive. And sometimes he will have the most random stuff to get signed. One day it was a piece of like that foam poster board with something I think taped or glued on it. You could tell it was a bad job.
He also seems to not understand to leave some guys alone, one player hadn't been playing lately and was one of the first out of the locker room. I swear the guy was standing in front of the players car, not sure if trying to get him to sign or what. But I know, no means no and I wait til next time.
But anyways thats my vent for now. People like that ruin the hobby for the true collectors.

Yeah, inside the Wells Fargo center I often graph with a guy who always asks the sixers players for their sneakers, kinda lame- same thing you are describing.
Also, while graphing at the Washington Wizards hotel, I got physically assaulted. A guy thought that I stole his spot in line (I didn't) and I told him I didn't. He grabbed me and literally tried to pull me behind him. I ultimately decided not to make a huge deal of it and moved behind him. Still, it was kind of weird being physically assaulted over a John Wall auto (at least I still got the auto).
Philly hotels are full of dealers of the worst kind- people that will misinform you to throw you off the scent, people who won't respond to you when you speak to them (like totally ignore you). My friend who graphs hotels a lot in Philly said that they are intensely aggressive to "new guys." They want to keep the hotel racket for only the dealers so they make their money. He said that one group of dealers in particular are very rough- he said that sometimes they will take their sharpies and draw all over the clothes and the items that new guys bring to get signed to deter them from coming back.
Bottom line is: I am a new guy, so I will watch my back, and I am just getting my graphs and getting the fudge out of there.

my thoughts exactly. luckily after this week (oklahoma city thunder) I won't be doing the hotel for awhile, so I won't have to worry about crossing paths with these jerks.

Philly people are definitely some of the worst from what ive heard.
I heard a story about how at a Philly's game a 10 year old kid got batting gloves from a player and the dealers ran up and took them from the kid's hands while he was holding them and ran away...

Ah thats nice. Wonder if the kids parents saw that.
Another thing I don't like is when a genuine fan wants to get something from a player and a guy will come for the first time with a kid and ask then instantly get it. And this will be the first time you ever see this guy and he only brought the kid for that purpose was to get something.

The guys that really kill me are the ones who use their kid to snag a good players graph. They usually carry their 1 year old kid to a group when a good player, like Chipper Jones, Albert Pujols, etc., are signing and ask the player to sign for the kid. The kid doesn't know the player much less what a baseball is used for. And yes, Dad goes away with a smile knowing he "punked" everyone waiting for a graph. The wife/mother is usually close by holding a bag with a half dozen balls as they hand the signed ball over to her and they grab another one - I see it all the time...

I've been around dealers, true fans, serious autograph collectors, and those fans who are obsessed with one team but none of them have been jerky or snobbish and I've been with fans who think they are on first name basis and buddy-buddy with the players and could ramble their stats off all day long but they aren't generally rude or mean.
Somewhat similarly, I was at a major league game and after the inning ending strikeout, the catcher came right by me and I asked for the ball. He made eye contact with me and tossed the ball underhand to me. The two men sitting next to me leaped up and tackled each other to get the ball. Their drinks spilled, their food was dumped, and they wrestled for the ball that was now rolling down the seats.
