I was pretty ticked last night, but the more I think about it, I guess it was an "ok" pick. I think we reached a good amount for him. Very least, this pick is good since we will likely get rid of J.J. now. Thompson is a pretty smart player and good on defense, and at this point in his career, I'd say his offensive skills are about as raw as J.J.'s were when he was a rookie. So if we can coach this guy some offense, he will be 2x better than J.J. will ever be. And if we manage to move J.J. for a lottery pick next year, or a good young wing player, I'd consider this pick to be pretty good.

I would've traded down, traded out, or taken Jan Vesely. Vesely, who can play the four, looks to be one of the most dynamic talents in the draft if you watched the highlights. He was hitting threes all over the place and looked great.
In the end, they picked a player who is an exact clone of what they already had. Hell, Tristyn Thompson wasn't even the best Texas player in the draft...they would've been better off taking Knight, Kemba, or Jimmer and trading him.

well we have no idea what situation they were in with trying to get trades. i imagine they were calling around but nobody could give up there picks. we wil never know about that.
and if they took vesely they would still get criticism. he is a PF (even though he can play the 3).
if they took knight, kemba or jimmer, we would have FIVE point guards. not too sure whats wrong with having fur PFs. one is a stretch 3 (jamison), and one will probably not see too many minutes at the 4 r the 5 (samardo). so really were rotating one position with 2 main guys and 2 others that occasionally can play the 4. i see no issue with the four.
and please stop saying they drafted 3 PFs. they did, but we no longer have one, and most likely wont ever see the other.

Vesely is a different player than Hickson, though. Thompson is an exact clone, so basically they took him to trade JJ. Doesn't make much sense to me...If they took Knight, Kemba, or Jimmer, they could've easily swung a trade with a number of teams to get more picks/players AND Tristyn Thompson. Instead they reached on Thompson and got nothing for it...
On top of drafting the Power Forwards they did, don't they also have Hickson, Jamison, Samardo Samuels, and Luke Harangody at the four? I'm going to assume Samuels and Gody will be gone after this since even the Cavs wouldn't give six fours.
Finally, they did draft four power forwards, so I'm probably going to continue pointing that out...they traded the solid defender in the mold of a Tayshaun Prince (Harper) for two seconds, so I can't say that I'm a fan of that move. And why take someone they'll likely never see when they could've drafted a number of players (David Lighty and Isaiah Thomas, for example) that showed potential to contribute? Outside of Kyrie, I don't see much in the way of franchise-building trades.

For all we know they could have been drafting for ORL. and im also confused with the last pick. i have no idea why but it seemed like most teams were just trying to hit a home run with one european guy.
i forgot about harangody. he'll be lucky to play 5 minutes this year if the roster stays the same. we have SO many bench players right now, but it may not seem that way because they got to play last season with injuries and the fact we had a pretty bad team.
the offseason isn't over yet. i imagine they will have SOME type of trade dealing with our PFs (i hope jamison).
I really dont understand how we can go 2 years straight saying jamison could get traded and should, but then when there's a real good chance, everyone says its JJ. don't see how JJ and thompson CAN'T co-exist on the same team. the fact that thompson is a "CLONE" of hickson doesn't mean they can't both play on the same team.

Cavs should trade Jamison for Emeka Okafor and Quincy Pondexter. Cavs get a center and a SF while the Hornets get a PF in case West AND Landry leave.

Hopefully we will move J.J. before the season starts. That will help out a little bit, then we can move Antawn at the deadline to a playoff team that thinks he is the final piece. I doubt we will move Harongody since Grant traded specifically for him and Erden, and I believe we signed Samuels to a 3 year deal didn't we? I don't see us moving him, Grant seems very high on Samardo, and I really don't blame him. He was a nice surprise for us last season when he got to start. Our PF's at the start of the season should be Antawn, TT, and LH. I also think we will use Samardo as a center more than we will as a PF, like we did last year.

I would be ECSTATIC! haha if they finally got rid of the dead weight of jamison for 2 guys i already like. okafor could probably get a double double for us and QPON would be good as a role player, but could still start. QPON was a beast at washington.

Well there was more talent out the than Thompson to waste a #4 pick on so we take walker and trade him he has more value than who we got? We just wasted draft picks like we do in every sport. So we take a pf at #32 to trade to get talent later down the road we need it now not later hows that gonna help us now?
