Player Collector's

Took me time to define what exactly I collect but now it's very clear to me.

I collect Habs, grew in Montreal region and been collecting for a while. I still have the same feeling when I see Habs cards. My focus turn to Habs goaltender over the time and mainly collect those player in the jersey. For Roy it was different as at one time I was trading for him in Colorado but stop because there was way too many. Now I stick to 1996 and less, the years he actually played and if I pull nice one I had them to the PC like the Colorado complete jersey I pulled in BTP this year.

For low trader, I will trade for Habs but I keep bigger traders for my main players.

So I am more and more a Habs goaltender collector and will keep any player that wear a Habs jersey if I pull it. I also try to get cards from every player, try to have one auto and memorabilia of them if possible. I will not trade my Halak collection away for instance as I still collect him but in Habs jersey only. Also I put less emphases on him now.

So the priority goes like this:
Montreal Canadien
Montreal Goaltender
Montreal HOF and in general

All come down to Habs in the end.

Never stopped collecting my favorite (Ranford) despite being traded to Boston, Washington, Tampa, or Detroit.

For the players I collect, it really doesn't matter. Smyl was always a Canuck, Linden had his stints in Washington, NYI and Montreal and Naslund, of course, played for Pittsburgh before and NYR after.

I asked myself this in the past when rumors were abound and always said "yes" it would continue. The theory got tested yesterday and the answer stands.

WOW, until recently I didnt think I would be faced with this decision. Until at least I heard today Talbot refused the Penguins 3 yr/ offer. STUPID!STUPID!STUPID!
Ive heard via rumorville the Caps are interested in him...UUUUGGGGHHHH!

However, I collect Talbot because I like him and what he brings to the team. I will continue to collect him as long as they produce his cards.... He however, is probably one of the few I would do this with. Having 95% of his cards also is a factor in this decision.

Im just hoping no other team offers him a better deal and he decides to stay with the Pens.

Sometimes you have to figure out what kind of collector you are, and for what reason you collect your player. Everyone has a preference either team based or individual. If it's a player on your team, then that loyalty comes into play. Vice-versa if you don't cheer for a particular team.

I don't have a particular team to cheer for, so it was easy for me to follow my players wherever they went. Even if I didn't like the teams they were on.

For Whitney, Nolan, Dafoe and Connolly I've collected them whatever team they're on. Same with Dunham although it's a relatively small PC. They are players that are from the UK or that I just really like.

I prefer Gaboriks in his Wild uniform and have been thinking of thinning them out just to be the Minnesota cards. I still have pretty much all my Bouwmeesters but I think they are all Florida and I would keep it that way.

Still like both Olesz and Frolik and don't find Chicago offensive (in fact patch cards will be awesome) so will probably stick with them. Thankfully my Salak collection was one card LOL!!

I made my Anthony Stewart cards available when he was traded and I'm still trying to trade both those and my Nathan Hortons.

I'm with "30ranfordfan", Kurri was/is my guy regardless of where he went. I was more a fan of Kurri (and Gretzky) than I was the Oilers. When they went to the Kings, I followed the Kings, and so forth. I do see the other side of it though with my other smaller PC players, like Coffey, who I only collect as an Oiler and MacInnis who I much prefer to see in a Blues uni.

I collect Ranford and Shields and never even thought about not collecting them no matter what their status was. I will say when Ranford went to Washington I was a huge caps fan for the next few years - I even said days after that trade that they would win the Cup the next year - even bet my uncle $10 and while I didn't win the bet he was so impressed at how close my prediction came to being true (finalists) he gave me the $10.
