NBA players, owners arrive for talks
NEW YORK -- LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant and other NBA players arrived Friday for meetings with owners that could determine if the season starts on time.
he sides are prepared to talk through the weekend. Commissioner David Stern has said there must be progress toward a new labor deal this weekend or there will be "enormous consequences." The regular season is scheduled to begin Nov. 1.

I guess we'll see what happens to the season later on today when the meetings are over. I would hope they come to a faster development that ensures a full season or a just a small amount of games missed.

NBA-union talks to continue Saturday
NEW YORK -- Feeling a "sense of urgency" to get a deal done quickly, NBA players and owners met for more than four hours Friday and will resume talks Saturday.
The meetings produced some tense moments, as Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat yelled while making pointed remarks to commissioner David Stern, a source close to the situation told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.
The meeting was so intense that Wade and the other star players present nearly stormed out. They remained only because union executive director Billy Hunter calmed them down and asked them to, the source told Broussard.

These meetings could be good and bad for both sides but the players need to keep their cool instead of storming out.

NBA negotiations key on Tuesday talks
NEW YORK -- Another day of NBA labor talks came and went without a deal, with deputy commissioner Adam Silver stressing that Monday's negotiations weren't meant to cross any significant hurdles.
"Today'’s meeting was largely about setting the table for tomorrow’s meeting, which will probably include the full labor relations committee, about 10 owners, and from as I understand from Billy Hunter, a large group of players," Silver said.
With the scheduled Nov. 1 start of the NBA regular season in jeopardy, recent progress has been made, but not enough to engender consensus on a new collective bargaining agreement.

Sounds like it comes down to tommorow in order to keep the entire season. They all seem to have said today's meeting went well and are very hopeful for tommorow. My guess is that they may have a good meeting tommorow, but will still go a month or so afterwards to solve all the issues. Let's hope for the best

NBA to cancel games if no deal Monday
NEW YORK -- The NBA has canceled the remainder of the preseason and will wipe out the first two weeks of the regular season if there is no labor agreement by Monday.
Commissioner David Stern and deputy commissioner Adam Silver made the announcement after owners and players met for about four hours Tuesday but came no closer to an agreement.
"We were not able to make the progress that we hoped we could make and we were not able to continue the negotiations," Stern said.
No further meetings are scheduled. "Today was not the day to get this done. We were not able to get close enough to close the gap," union president Derek Fisher said Tuesday, speaking ahead of Stern.

Well your hope didn't help any since the players and the owners could not come to a deal. Looks like the first 2 weeks of the season is going to be cancelled and maybe more since there are no more meetings scheduled between players and owners. I want to see some
before the holidays!!

I've lost all hope. I'm OK with it since I'm more of a college basketball fan, but it really stinks that players like Durant and Howard are entering their prime.

Sources: Meeting before deadline off
The NBA and its locked-out players are unlikely to meet again before Monday, almost assuring the first two weeks of regular-season games will be canceled.
Who's to blame for scuttling a proposed weekend meeting between the sides depends on who you ask.
Sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard that the union asked for the meeting, and the owners agreed -- on the condition the players agree to a 50-50 split of basketball-related income. When the union rejected that stance, the owners said there was no need to meet, the sources said.
