Letting off some Steam!!!
Don't you hate when people diss your cards because you don't want to trade it to them. For example, I have a Montana auto that books $100, guy offers a Emmitt BV50, and a Rivers Auto BV50, then I said I didnt want to do that, and all of the sudden my Montana is one of his cheapest autos, and it sells for aound 40 on ebay. This just pisses me off, if its so cheap then buy one.

I have heard many people say this. I have yet for someone tell me how "cheap" my cards are, I would have to agree with them if they did...lol....that's how bad my trade list is. They wouldn't have the satisfaction of getting a rise out of me :P
I understand your venting, I am glad they let us do so here, but don't let it get you down. Someone, somewhere, is looking for that Montana and I am sure will trade you something you can really use for it. This ebay thing has gone a bit over the deep end...while I agree that ebay is more accurate for pricing, it is not the end all, be all of pricing...way too many factors come into play....yes, your Montana may only "go for" $40ish at certain times, but at other times it may pull in $60ish....it's all a matter of what someone is willing to pay at the time.
Good luck to you in your trading...just hold the Montana until you get the offer you are waiting for :)
Peace~

i have had that happen to me a time or two. the worse is when someone spends days trying to get you to trade them a card but you can;t find something they will let go of but they want the card and don;t want to buy. I had this guy that wanted a few rc cards and a rc auto I had he posted daily wanting to get a trade done with me for the cards. granted the rc auto was not a big name rc but together the cards booked about 30.00 bucks. When i found something in the same range on his site he all of a sudden desided he wanted my cards for dirt cheep trade wize. I picked a auto and told him what i liked and he said well im not tradeing a auto for rookie cards. I was like well what do you consider the rc auto you are wanting from me. He responded that it was a low end auto so he wasan;t going to trade a auto for it he was only going to trade low end rcs. Granted my rc auto was not a high end auto but neither was the auto i wanted that he had. Both of the autos we wanted were not even startes on the teams. It was like he thought he could get my cards for noname junk regular rookies.

i feel the same way. I am a set builder so i am trading for commons. Granite i will trade a 20 gu for 40 bv of commons if thats what they want. But NNNNOOOOO, they want a 40 gu card. You cant build sets like that you know i told them, i would offer bv in inserts but they couldnt do that either. Why am i going to trade say a nolan ryan game used worth 50 for 50 worth of pretty much nothing i mean come on now what has happened with the hobby.
just my 2 cents
there are a few people that understand trading for commons but 95 percent want the world

You just brought back HORRIBLE memories....
One time a guy was interested in my Richard Jefferson Autograph /w 3 color patch and 4 color patch #ed /25. I was interested in an Iguodala patch that he owned #ed /25 with the Sixers logo on the patch. First of all here is how he tried to rip me off:
I trade him:
the Richard Jefferson (bought off ebay for $28, but was allowed to put it in high end forum because a Mod thought it was worth over $100).
Stephon Marbury jersey - BV: $40
Tayshaun Prince Auto- BV: $20
Dwyane Wade Jersey- BV: $50
$30 Money Order
for:
the Iguodala (undedetermined BV)
2 Samual Dalembert autos BV's of $25 and $20
Chris Webber jersey- BV: $20
and some Sixers inserts.
So lets put it like this
My:
$200 of BV (around that, have to guess on the RJ)
$30 MO
For:
MAYBE $150 (I highly doubt that much)
But here is what makes me so mad. I IM him online and I tell him I like the Iggy after he said he liked my RJ. We start looking at each others cards and we think a block buster deal is in the making. Then he comes up with that POS offer up above.
I say no I cant do that, and then he kept revising it so it was like $29 MO instead of $30. Then he got mad at me saying I dont know how to trade. We say a couple things that would get me banned from SCF is I posted them right now. THEN he says the stupidest thing Ive ever heard (when it comes to cards). He says "Take your $28 RJ and run away.
FIRST OF ALL I BOUGHT IT OFF EBAY FOR $28 IT WAS WORTH WAY MORE
SECOND I WOULDVE GOT RIPPED OFF BUT HE GETS MAD AT ME
Then he says "I dont care if you offer me 1 million dollars for the Iggy, Im never trading with you."
So after about 30 minutes of out nice meeting I get an IM, he says "Hey, how about this"
I interupt him before he can talk more and I said never talk to me again, you said you dont want to trade it to me so dont offer $*** to me. I blocked him, end of story.
The guy is a member on SCF, not sure on how often he posts though.

rdeezee: True that. Happens all the time. It used to tick me off so much. Especially when they begin dogging your cards (the same cards they wanted SO badly). It's just their stupid lowballing technique. Don't let it bother you. The BV on your Montana card speaks for itself.

These are on the cards HE TELLS ME that he wants.
I offer him the Emmitt and the Rivers and he says no because its a better auto and I agreed. I then offer a 60.00 Rivers and the Emmitt, putting it in his favor 10.00 on cards HE SAID that he wanted.
He goes on to tell me how Montana autos are so rare and that they are such a hot collectible. I laugh to myself, but whatever. I told him that the card he's trying to get so much in book for is probably the Montana that sells cheapest of any certified auto that he has. I would buy it but havent had the extra money to do so.
I didnt say his cards were cheap, that would make it sound like they were garbage. I said that the card in question was robably Montanas cheapest auto'd card, meaning that it was the least expensive one that he has.
If youre going to vent, then fine, but dont make it one sided. Tell the WHOLE story, not just the parts that suit you. Anyone can rationalize things to make it seem like they have been wronged. You didnt like my offer. Thats fine. Dont cry about it. I am sure you'll get a better offer on it since it is a nice looking card.

Ok, they were the cards I like that means find some cards you like in the same ball park. And I NEVER said that was anything montana autos were rare or a hot collectible. Anyone who has ever trade with me knows I would say something like that. I'd say something like what i did say and thats i didnt want to trade an auto of aruably the best qb ever for a auto of a sophmore qb that hasnt taken a snap. I beleive that is exactly what I said, when u jumped to the Montana sells for 40 on Ebay.

when I offer 110 in trade for 100 in trade, thats in the ballpark and then some. You want to value your card because of who it is. BV is BV regardless. IF you want to trade, you trade by BV and not by who is on the card. You wouldnt trade me a bunch of Philip Rivers Rookies for Montana base cards. Its not who is on the card but the value of the card.
