GoWarrior's Success Thread
I did a bunch of TTM in the late 90s and early 2000s... mostly baseball cards. I JUST got back into the hobby and have been focusing on older guys, HOFers, etc.
I'm going to play a little catch-up here, so I'll start by posting the successes I've gotten over the past five weeks. Bobby Doerr was the first one I got back, and I received it on Oct. 24 so this is all very current. I'll keep it up to date from here on out.
So far, I've only been sending out 8x10s. Here goes...
Bobby Doerr
One of the greatest signers and the oldest living baseball HOFer. 93 years old! I sent a silver sharpie with it, and I absolutely love he way this came out.

Monte Irvin
I had asked him to inscribe something along the lines of "Negro League Champs '46" and "World Series Champs '54" but only got his HOF inscription. Still very happy. Second oldest living HOFer, 92 years old!

Jim Bunning
Great inscription on a photo of the last pitch of his perfect game.

Don Larsen
Last pitch of his World Series perfect game.

Al Rosen
Added "1953 AL MVP" inscription without me asking. Very cool. (inscription is hard to see at the end as blue sharpie goes over the dark background)

Gino Marchetti
He signed my 8x10 with "58 59 World Champs" inscription which I asked for and also added a really nice 3x5 HOF card. Great guy.

Chuck Bednarik
Signed both 8x10s I sent him. I didn't ask for any specific inscriptions but he inscribed the hell out of these. Awesome signer! I know he usually does the same thing on the Gifford photo... but it's still extremely cool and nice of him.

Frank Gifford
And here's the guy Bednarik nearly murdered. I'm a Giants fan so I was extremely excited to get this ultra-fast return... 5 days! See TTMM for dates.

Pat Summerall
Another former NY Giants player and broadcasting legend/John Madden partner.

Carmen Basilio
I'm a big boxing fan and LOVED this return. I sent the 8x10 of Carmen fighting Sugar Ray Robinson, who many say was the greatest fighter of all time, along with a silver sharpie. They had a legendary rivalry that lasted three fights, with Carmen winning one of the three. I sent a really nice letter and was happy to see that Carmen included a second 8x10 of his own inscribed "To My Pal Brett, Good Luck Always"

Richard Petty
I'm not much of a racing fan, but Petty really is the best. And with him being such a great signer, I couldn't NOT send to him.

Arnold Palmer
This one just came in two days ago. It looks great but unfortunately I'm near positive it's an autopen. It matches up with other examples in the TTMM, the marker pressure is perfectly even throughout, and there are dots at the ends where the marker goes down onto the photo and is lifted up off of it, no tailing at the ends... tell-tale signs of an autopen. And overall, it's just way too perfect of a signature.

That's all I've gotten over the past five weeks. Stay tuned as more come in...Last edited by GoWarrior; 12-07-2011 at 09:26 PM.

Some very nice returns!! I have sent a few 8x10s out myself but so far have only gotten one back (Richard Petty). I will be sending a few more out after Xmas. Looking forward to following your thread!

Yeah, I sent the $10 he requests. I figured the guy is 82 years old, I'd rather pay his fee now than not have him at all. Who knows how long these guys will be around (hopefully for a long, long time though!).
Here's the price list he sent back in the envelope with my 8x10. You can actually buy photos and balls directly from him, and I think for $15 for a signed 8x10 and $35 for a ROMLB, it's actually not a bad deal.
