    Your thoughts: Whitney Houston

Was she a Saint? Did she discover the cure for cancer or something? Did I miss something here? Why is this woman in the news every friggin day!? Granted she was a good singer, but does that warrant her getting all this attention? Heck, the Governor of N.J. is having the American flag flown at half mast for Ms.Houston!
Bottom line here people is why are we canonizing this woman when we have soldiers dying for this great country of ours and they don't get as much as a minute on the news!? These are our true heroes!

Totally agree with you. It is sad that people are ce;ebrating and addict or the past years. She died because of alcohol and drugs and she is still seen as a hero.

Sadly, this is how our news media works. The focus is always on celebs and the most negative things, not "regular" folks and the good things they do and the sacrifices they make each day.

The fact is: She was FAMOUS. Everyday heroes are not. Despite her downfall over the last half of her life, the joy she provided to everyone during the first half will always surpass the negative. Her talents were "once in a lifetime", and every bit worthy of celebrating.

I personally refuse to 'celebrate' or even care about someone who wasted a talent like she had. She died because she did drugs, after she had fame and fortune. People die from drugs every day, i'm not gonna act like I suddenly ever cared about Whitney Houston.

Her biggest mistake was getting involved with Bobby Brown. From there it was all down hill.

Her talents were hardly once in lifetime, there are singers out there just as if not even more amazing than her, Adele, Florence Welch and Skin from Skunk Anansie come to mind of the top of my head. She was a junkie and she dug her own grave with her stupidity. 33,000 children die preventable deaths every day why do we not mourn for them?

P.S. Mariah Carey has a better voice and more #1 hits to prove it. Her talents were not "once in a lifetime", sorry...

On a side note this is just one more reason media is a joke and the true heroes of this country should be honored. Being "famous" don't mean crap if you're dead from drugs...
