Just looking at the official boxscore is scary. Kings had 48 shots + 25 more that were blocked by Phoenix.
That first goal that Quick allowed in looks similar to one that Tony O allowed in a Cup Final to the Habs about 40 years ago.
The Kings definitely had many opportunities to blow that game open, but did not.
Well, this game showed that there was some rust for both teams as they both finished their previous series early.

Wow - Phoenix starting to get frustrated and doing some stupid things - that hit on Brown was uncalled for. And the slash to the back of the knee - one of the few unprotected areas.....bad bad move
This one will either get REAL ugly on Thursday or will be one without any penalties
Either way - I see 3-1 Kings win for game 3

Kings could sweep back to back series. They look unbeatable! This a great time for them to peak. I thought they would win the Pacific division and Kopitar would score 90-100 points. I thought Richards would have 75-85 points. I thought Doughty would have a bounce back year offensively. I thought the Kings would have at least 100 points in the regular season. None of that happened but now they are looking like the team most people thought they would be throughout the regular season. They took out the Vancouver Canucks with ease and just continue to roll through these playoffs.

Those two boarding penalties definitely killed Phoenix's chances of ever getting back into the game. The Kings are outworking them. Could be a real possibly of steamrolling the Coyotes since their offense disappeared.
Looks like the curse of Wild E. Coyote now has taken form..

Great game tonight - Staples Center was ROCKIN!!!!!!
Kings looked a little like Kings of old in the first period but picked it up in the 2nd and 3rd.....
Funny, but 90% of the posts I see on Hockey blogs and such say the Kings arent really winning the games but the Canucks, Blues and Coyotes are just not playing good games...so in a sense saying the other team is losing the game....Its all good - no respect for Kings from some fans - no worries - its all about scoreboard
Kings look to close out the series on Sunday
I predict a 3-1 Kings victory and plenty of rest

In the playoffs, whichever teams go cold are bound for the golf course faster. I wonder if these blogs forgot who is coaching the Kings...Darryl Sutter.
Also, the Coyotes are getting outworked and the Kings are getting more the of the scoring chances, although they have only buried enough of them to win the games instead of burying their opponents at times. Winning eight games in a row in the playoffs is big on getting the team faster to the Cup Final.

An amazing run is that much closer to the final stage.

Well if anyone doubted where the NHL wants Phoenix, it could not have been more evident than the non-slashing call against them with just over 2 minutes left to play.
The referees aren't even subtle about it.
Dave Tippett was ever a diplomat, going so far as to stating that if he talked about what was on his mind, he would be hit hard in the wallet.
His mention of Diving should ring clear throughout the league. It's become a farce.
I'm sick of this new NHL, the new NHL where players don't decide the outcomes of games.
