oh and by value with the RPAs, i just meant that people are getting sicks deals on these right now on ebay, not that they are as limited as the bowman version.

Let's get one thing straight. Upper Deck lovers will NEVER change. They refuse to see the big picture. I think Contenders is a great product. The booklets are cool, the patches are awesome and the base set/rookies look great as well. If you switched the brand name to UD SP Authentic, the Upper Deck fans would be drooling all over it.
To them, UD can do no wrong and anything else is just garbage. Don't waste your breath trying to change their minds

SPA in my opinion is one of the most over rated products out there. Then again I think most hockey products are pretty awful. Contenders is better than last year, but that doesn't mean it's all that great.

The same exact thing could be said about Panini Lovers.....
SPA IMO is better (last years) because the SOTT beat the NHL INK. Crosby, Melrose, Gretzky. You cant find those guys on contenders.

I'd point out, though, that not all of us choosing SPA over Contenders are doing so out of blind allegiance to Upper Deck. I have no issue with products either company (or ITG), I just don't find the design that exciting.
Love the NHL Ink, but I dislike the white on the rookies and I absolutely hate that those nice booklets are all sticker autos. I'd still like to land some, but they annoy me just as the BAP multi-autos with stickers have in the past.
To each their own, but I just don't want all criticism glossed over because it's assumed that we're all UD cheerleaders. I know there are some, but some of just like their product better in this case.

I would quickly point out though, that any SPA auto card with 3 or more autos is stickered also. Imagine the wait time to get 4 or 6 signatures on the same card hard signed.
I give kudos to Panini for having the triple autos hard signed.

SPA wins IMO.

i would go with spa anyday, strong selection of players and good looking sets. Contenders is good but it does not beat SPA if you ask me.

I think it's great Gretzky being on the checklist.
That being said he will be a group A pull, 1 in like 8:000 packs or some such nonsense. He might as well not be on the checklist at all.
Also, Taylor Hall is in the Contenders Inks, but only on the duals and triples.

In my opinion, the SOTT checklist is clearly better than the NHL Ink checklist.
