    It is the next days starter who charts the game. That way he can see their hitters tendencies. The guy on the gun will usually be the starter who threw the previous day, but sometimes guys hate sitting in the stands in civilian clothes. Especially if they have to work out, they would rather throw on a uniform and relax on the dugout shade! So sometimes they will convince another starter to do it for them. There are some places (mainly AAA) where they will chart from the dugout and just use the gun on the scoreboard. Most teams don't do this because the gun is off so much!

    Normally its its the pitchers how had started the last prior 2 games but i normally will ask the teams who is charting that night so i know who to look for once the game starts

    Last game i went to it was the pitchers for the next two games.
