I have 4 PC's. I collect Patrick Roy, Carey Price and PK Subban. Basically, I am collecting a HOF legend, a current Star and a young up and comer. I tried just collecting Habs as my PC, but I found that too many players whom I had worked hard to collect were traded within a couple of seasons. I also have a side PC of cards that I just couldn't let go (Orr, Howe, Yzerman, Stamkos autos, etc...). I also have a long term PC project on the side (2009-10 SPA Marks of Distinction Autos /25).
Occasionally I drift and collect cards from a specific subset for my PC if I find them nice to look at (I did the Crown Royale Ice Kings subset this year, and tried to collect as many BD Championship rings and Limited Stanley CUp winners as possible). Also, I put together a Prime NUmbers Gaborik because I pulled the Patch/Auto /3 and couldn't resist.
As far as HOW I collect, I don't buy or sell singles at all. For me, this whole hobby is about the thrill of the hunt, busting wax and finding nice cards, or trading my findings to other hobbyists for new cards for my PC. I find it alot more satisfying to collect this way, I really have to put alot of time and effort into making worthwhile trades for PC cards. Often I need to trade up for larger cards that are not PC, to be able to trade those larger cards for PC items.Last edited by adamslogik; 06-27-2012 at 06:21 PM.

I collect what appeals to me. There is not one set that I'm completely sold on collecting the entire thing. It's bits and pieces of a lot of sets. I am currently collecting the following sets/cards.
Leaf Hard Hats Inserts /3000
11/12 Crown Royale Mythology Patches /10
07/08 Artifacts Treasured swatches
10/11 Black Diamond Team Canada Die cuts
01/02 Greats of the Game GU'd sticks
10/11 BTP Greats of the Games Autos
10/11 Donruss Tough Times autos
10/11 Certified Throwback Threads autos
Lots of different things.
Fun.

Exactly!!!!!
- Players who retired or died before I was born
- Canadiens pre-80's + Patrick Roy
- Canucks old and new
- Joe Sakic
- Steve Yzerman
- Mario Lemieux
- Sid and Ovi and Carey and Geno, half-heartedly :D
- "Pretty" cards
Mostly I buy singles off eBay or at the shows, I buy a couple tins of Upper Deck every year for fun, and the Wal-Mart mystery boxes to raise my blood pressure. I've made a few trades and purchases of these boards as well.

I collect habs goaltenders as my primary goal then habs and at time I will make sets More so if it's a habs set. I also try to get at least one auto from all habs players. I buy at least one box of each product, trade and buy singles too. Been collecting hockey since my mom was giving me hockey card pack to go see the dentist so 44 years of collecting and only try to move non-habs. I never sold cards from my PC so it just keep growing.

For me hockey is my #1 passion when it comes to following the Leaf's but living in Toronto everything here is so damn expensive and since hockey wax just doesn't interest me anymore and I don't really use ebay, I have turned my attention to baseball for now and football when the season starts.

I am a Habs team collector for the most part. I rarely crack any wax. I like to buy smaller lots to use as tradebait and trade for most of the lower end PC. I buy alot of my PC (mid-end cards) on ebay.
For my "24" collection, I have bought probably 99% of it. Occasionally I get sidetracked and begin collecting cards that appeal to me like the ITG 1980s Decades jerseys, or the 2009-10 The Cup Golds.

I like to try most new products that come out. Can range from 1 pack (CR) to mulitple boxes (Certified) depending how much I like that set.
One new thing I like to do lately is completing base sets but placing them in sheets then binders for me to look back on.
I guess similar to others, buy some singles on ebay/SCF. I'm a little more open to trading on here now. A lot of smooth transactions lately has warmed me up.

I'm just getting back into the hobby this year, so I told myself this year I'd bust anywhere from 4 boxes to a few cases of everything (depending on what I liked).
I collect Oilers and some nice patches / hard-signed autos if I come across them in my breaks. Everything else I attempt to sell off to make way for the next product.
At the end of this year I'm going to evaluate the 'best bang-for-the-buck' products as well as the 'most fun' products and only do those next year and ONLY on release date.
So far for me it looks like the keepers are:
UD 1&2 - bang for buck
Black Diamond - bang for buck
Titanium - fun factor
Limited - fun factor
The Cup - fun factor
Dominoin - fun factor
Anthology so far has a good bang for the buck, but I'll have to see how it shakes out.
Ultimate, SPA & Prime will also be evaluated in the future.
Out for me are:
Certified
Pinnacle
SPx
SPGU
Contenders
Crown Royale
I might participate in the odd group break on these products though.Last edited by rydlar99; 06-28-2012 at 12:25 PM.

About Upper Deck serie 1 and 2. Serie is the most desirable as for the rookie, this is usually where the top rookie are. Serie 2 is more a late update once the season is almost over and there is less big rookie. So serie 1 is definilty more desirable.
