Panthers prepare for Luongo
Speculation that Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo is headed back to Florida continues to percolate.
Luongo, who played five seasons with the Panthers before being shipped to the Canucks in 2006, is thought to look favorably on a trade back to his old club. Miami Herald writer and THN correspondent George Richards recently reported via Twitter the word on the street was the Panthers were internally preparing for Luongo's return.

He's just as likely to go to Florida now as he was 2 weeks ago.
Same story for Toronto.
Please, no more Luongo stories until there's actually something to report. I've been reading the same story, slightly different, ever since draft day.

The only report I can give you is that Canucks have begun removing all Luongo advertisement at Rogers Area. For Canucks fan, if you are familiar with the 2 banners on each end of the ice, the new one does not feature Luongo any more. They begun to do that with the exterior as well.
It's a matter of when he gets moved now.

I hope he goes to Toronto and wins a Cup. Just to be able to watch the squirming nature of Canuck fans one more time........

The problem with that scenario is you have Toronto winning a Cup in the next 10 years ;)

Yeah you're right..... And this new Orange Board would not be able to handle the bluster if the Leafs won a Cup. It would explode.

I also hope he goes to Toronto and wins a Cup! Vancouver fans would be dying. Florida should get out of trying to get Luongo. They don't need him. They have Markstrom, Theodore, and Clemmenson.

Rumour I heard is that Gillis is warmer to Florida because they could very well send Theodore back to give Schneider fewer games than he'd have with, say, Lack backing him up. Meanwhile Burke isn't willing to give up much of anything at this point and is dead-set on Vancouver taking a bad contract in return. Funny thing is, with the recent contracts being signed, Luongo's doesn't actually look that bad for a #1 goaltender. Gillis doesn't want a bad contract in return and I don't think he'll have to take one. A month ago I wouldn't say that.
