Well I haven't seen one person say this so here's my thought on Luongo going to Florida. NO. With what Florida has waiting in minors, why would they want Luongo? Call me crazy, but that's just me. They don't need Luongo.

Luongo would be a great fir in Florida because while Markstrom will be the franchise goalie for the Panthers, he's not there yet and will need a partner to take most of the load for at least a season and then become something more of a mentor. As much as I dislike Luongo, he's a very competent goalie with whom a team can build around, especially as young as that team is.

From many teams experience, you can't drop a talent like Markstrom into the NHL and expect him to perform. This isn't a forward where they can learn through playing all different lines. Goalies are a different breed and needs to develop under veteran and a mentor. Look at Schneider after a couple years in the AHL and then another couple in the NHL as backup, he has turned into a solid goalie and a future star goalie.

If you just throw a talented goalie into the NHL you get projects like Price and Fleury. Price had only one good year and has been trying to rebound ever since. Same goes for Fleury who has gotten a lot better since 03. That was almost 8-10 years ago since he was drafted.

Luongo will go to Florida to mentor Markstrom. Markstrom is not NHL ready yet. One more in the AHL and a couple more years learning as a backup in the NHL will make him ready. Luongo said it himself, he only has a few more years give or take. By that time Markstrom is ready, Luongo will retire. 3-4 years.

Interesting. Well of all goalies in minors I believe Jacob is closer than 3-4 years away. So all that Luongo will do is hinder is development into the NHL.

Luongo it so obviously appears, feels threatened by Schneider so he's unhappy and wants out. I foresee in my magic hockey puck that if he goes to Flr, you get all this drama again in two years. I suppose by then no one will care though, and Luongo will announce it's time to move on, and that he'd like to finish his career in Montreal. Carey Price feels threatened and announces to the world he'd like to move on having won 3 Stanley Cups and smashing all goalie records in Montreal. Carey moves to Vancouver, and Schneider is traded to Anaheim. Just then in a pig flies by, and I wake up. OK that was fun, mornings are the best, kids still asleep, coffee fresh, and lots to read.
Markstrom is ready, he's played in a Men's league for 5 years now, Theodore and Clemmensen are so very cheap and under contract that it would be crazy to bring in Luongo and raise a Team's cap well above their organization's bottom tear. Personally if I were the owner, I'd bring in Luongo, move Theodore to Vancouver. Luongo may be that missing key to get them to the next level. but as a fan of goalies, I'd like Markstrom to come up next season after Theo is done, and start his NHL career. As a fan of the game, I'd like for all players who are under contract to suck it up and not go to the media everytime their ego is hurt.

Not quite. Management decided this past season that Schneider is the future of the team. Fans everywhere agree. Luongo doesn't "want" out, but he can take a hint. No "threatened" in there at all.

If anything he should have felt threatened 8 months ago.

How is he threatened? Father time clicks over for all of us. Eventually Yoof has it's day. Louie is not a kid anymore. The Canucks have to be astute and always keep their eye on the horizon.

Oh I see, it's not that dramatic afterall.

He still isn't head to Flr though lol. Doesn't Columbus need a high profile? NYI where he started? Heck I could even see him in Toronto.

He's welcome anytime in the old Chuck Norris Division. We'd love to light him up.
