My final comment.
As a collector, I'm on the same boat as you. I want the perfect card or close to it.
The card is the what it is. Put into a machine and cut generically. Some will be empty... they aren't going to program a machine to cut an "I" a "T" the "." in St.Louis any different. Live with it. The aren't spending more money just to fill space. It is out right stupid and a waste of money.
If you are dissatisfied go and send it back to panini and tell them put more cardboard on it or add a extra jersey.
And if you are truly a collector, you need to value the perspective of the companies who are making your cards as much as your demand and critic.
At the end of the day, you are the only losing out not them. There is always someone to replace you... not the other way around.
Btw, no hard feelings bud haha. ;)
I'm sure we have mutual respect.Last edited by Yipper; 09-17-2012 at 07:38 PM.

I'll tale your advice and look the other Yippers.
I guess as a lowly collector with no business sense I'm out of my league bringing up a complaint that I thought was reasonable. Next product release I'll just grit my teeth and try not to post any opinions on it as I'm clearly wrong for having one.
Mods can close this now as I think it has more than run its course.Last edited by MattDMC; 09-17-2012 at 07:47 PM.

Wow. I did not even notice this until you pointed it out. Now it sticks out like a sore thumb in the store.

Hopefully it'll sell better than my first one. LOL
I have seen a few of the other ones out there, and it is for sure a bummer to see that much empty space on the window. I totally see where you're coming from with that perspective. I am actually thinking of going after the Koivu "I" even with that weird slant where a V used to be. Ultimately as a collector and a fan, it's still a very rare opportunity to get a significant piece of a game-used jersey that is very rarely offered in this format on cardboard. The Net Presence cards that Panini put out earlier in Limited share that similar black backing where there is no fabric. It looks pretty good with those cards, less good with these ones. Short of making a customized cover for every letter and ensuring that they are all cut identically (no small feat given the size of the checklist, variation in lettering styles, etc.) there's not much else they can do. The product was already badly delayed due to autographed content, it would have been even worse if it had to be further delayed to get the memorabilia content in place.
One last point, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong with this, but I believe that these cards may have been hand cut. Chris (PaniniPuck) has commented a couple times on Twitter and various boards that he's got to bust out the scissors himself a few times to cut up some pieces. These letters may be included in that. Or, they're machine-cut.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Hmmm your Yip's are 100% so it must be the start of the Project 31?
Good luck with that by the way.

Lol, but I was just going to whine and complain that not only did Upper Deck cut this letter 'I' so that it left blank space on either side, but they couldn't be bothered to cut it tight enough, and left little scraps of both neighbouring letters on either side.

I don't know how I'll sleep tonight knowing just how much this bothers me ;)
