    Bogus "Global Shipping Program" ??

    I have just had something weird happen.

    I sold a card Internationally to Canada for $29.99 and EBay now has this "Global Shipping Program" which is automatically checked for international sales.

    The seller was charged $12.68 International Priority Shipping + $7.92 in import charges = $20.60 for shipping...totally unreasonable.

    I messaged him apologizing on behalf of eBay and offered to cancel the sale or have him do it without penalty.

    Should I cancel the sale myself? Will I get the "eBay cut" final-value fees back if I go ahead and do this? It's just a couple dollars but they've already got me mad with using this Global Shipping Program as a default option which does not help anyone except for Pitney Bowes.

    Sorry, very late on the uptake here...all of my stuff seemed to be defaulted to this Global Shipping Program.

    It must be a new thing since I have made sales up to two weeks ago without sticking this program to my Canadian buyers.

    I just had to cancel a sale...hopefully it will go smoothly and I can get the Final Value Fees back.

    This right here is the perfect example as why cards sell for low prices.

    Say you had a card that I want to buy and am willing to pay $50 for it. My max bid would be $30 on your card. By the time that I factor in the extra fees it will total $50. Now if you were to use regular shipping the difference in money between using the Global Shipping Program and regular shipping goes to the seller and not to eBay.

    While I am not American and don't personally know how a seller can opt out of the using the program I did a Google Search and pulled this from the eBay forums;

    Go to to your Summary Page, then on the left hand side of the page under Selling Manager

    click on your Active listings. When you get to the list, up at the top of the column, left hand side click on "Edit" and then "Edit all listings". Your listings will load and you will see another "Edit" button. Click this and then select Shipping International. You should be able to opt-out all at once. Good luck!!

    The recent post on COMC's Mailbox feature would appear to be an easy solution to the Global Shipping Program. Not sure if others have mentioned this already but here is the link. I'm going to start using this service for the cards that only ship to the US or those that have outrageous shipping fees to Canada on eBay

    As for opting out of the program I'm not sure personally, its one of the reasons I've stopped selling on eBay.

    Looking for help with some eBay items (Global Shipping Program)

    There are some US sellers that use Global Shipping Program which costs 40-45$ per shipment. This price is ridiculous for low-, mid-end cards. So I'm asking here if anyone from USA could help me to get cards from sellers with GSP and then send them to me. I can assure that I'll cover all your expenses for cards+US/Int'l shipping+PayPal fees without delays. If anyone is willing to help, please write me a private message. Thanks in advance.
