Which, in turn, only compounds and exponentially increases the problems your wife has to face.

Why? You wanting them to stay really have no idea what the situation is. Only they do. I don't see how you can prioritize the two, or why saying "my selfishness is less than yours" means anything in the long long run.

You're missing the point all together. You're focusing on the "me wanting them to stay part"
Why are you always on the other side of what people first post on these threads- you're never the first one to post your opinions. I'm sure it is possible to have the exact opposite opinion as everyone else does on every single topic.
Look what this guy said, words from someone in that situations: Nothing more really needs to be said:
The pain and anguish you leave behind is 19086871 times greater than the pan and anguish of working through your problems together.

As I have said before (and taken heat for it) people who commit suicide are in an insane state when they do it. No one in their right mind would choose death over all other. Someone in their right mind would choose to find solutions to their problems. That's why I state you have to walk a mile in their shoes before you can comprehend the decisions they make. Calling them selfish is ignorant.
And for the record, without going in to the graphic details, I know of a few people who have disguised their suicides as accidents and left their spouses and children with life insurance policies to take care of them. Still the wrong choice in my mind but definitely not done out of selfishness.

REALLY selfish. So you fix it with money but frget that those kids need a father in some situations and they are never going to be able to play with DAD again and all that.

No, it's misguided. It's not selfish. Selfish implies there is intent to say screw everyone else I am doing this for me. That is rarely the case in a suicide as those taking their lives are usually suffering from a mental disorder by the time they make that choice and do not have the capacity to weigh all those consequences.

This is the point I was making to you. They are out income (most insuarance policies dont cover suicide) future income, kids without father, single mother having to work, etc. etc.
Its compounding 99% of the time and it sucks Ive seen happen more than once.

My unlce committed suicide and when I talk to my cousins they all say that he just thought about him and left them hanging. There is help, if you need it. Some people don;t need it and still commit suicide for issues that can be resolved.
