COSMOS....General discussion thread.

I really wanted to do this thread from the first episode but I forgot, but better late than never.

Cosmos is back!

The original aired in 1980 and was hosted by the great Astrophysicist Carl Sagan.

The new adaptation of Cosmos is hosted by our generation's new Carl Sagan.....Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

In episode one we saw how the Big Bang has shaped our Universe into what it is today, over the course of billions of years space has expanded, stars have been born and die giving birth to everything!

We humans actually owe our very existence to the death of stars, for our very atoms were forged within them.

It really was a magnificent episode where we can really see how small we really our in this seemingly endless universe.....but at the same time how we are all connected.


Anyways, this thread is dedicated to discussing the show and the themes that the show discusses, episode 2 aired yesterday, but do not worry....if you missed it, you can catch it on the National Geographic channel today at 10 pm.

Not understanding what this has to do with Politics or religion unless you are trying to goad people who have Faith into the thread.

That being said. Great show. Neil deGrasse Tyson does a great job

Nah not trying to do that.....if this topic can be discussed without religion that would be the best.

If you notice I made sure to not mention anything relating to religion or faith in the OP.

If the mods believe this topic can in fact be discussed without religion being mentioned, then I would be more than pleased if they moved it to a non-religion and politics section of this site.

Actually, religion plays a huge role. Never forget it was the search for God that brought us to understanding the world around us. Sure, many people are stuck somewhere in the past, but if something truly scientific comes out to challenge the Big Bang, I bet many of today's scientists would deny the evidence, because of what they've been taught.

It's human nature. Religion is the ultimate end. Science is the search for God. That's all.

I wonder, would Neil Degrasse Tyson describe himself as a "believer" in the multiverse? Or would he say it is an interesting hypothesis?

believer. google it, plenty of videos of him talking about his BELIEF in it, and I watched an interview with him talking about it and saying many scientists believe it.
