you're still doing it though aren't you. you're deflecting from this topic by stating all of the other high prioritized issues that negatively effect native americans. I don't get why these other topics matter when trying to debate this issue. It's not like there's this single team that has to pick from the list of things to work on and they've picked the redskins name as their top one and they won;t work on anything else until it's fixed. Things just don't work that way.

It's because the only way to get anything done is to argue about what to do first and never actually do anything about anything. Jay said so.

While the term isn't used in an offensive way when telling the score of a red skins game, that doesn't mean the term is not offensive. Again I'll go back to the normalization of the word by it being a team name that most americans know for the past 40-50 years or however long the name has been around. If you refer to a native american as a red skin I bet they would be offended. I just don't see how people can't see that it's a derogatory.

and again, it's not what you would be more offended by. We are not debating what's more offensive. Obviously raping, murdering, and enslaving is more offensive than using a derogatory name to name a football team, but that fact is immaterial.

I hate to say it but I have to ask. I have only been on here a year but where were all of you who were offended last year? How come this was not a thread LAST YEAR? How come during football season LAST YEAR nobody discussed this? Or is it only the flavor now so it is a big deal.Not making light of the topic just the band wagonners.

Because this ruling happened now, making this a hot topic. Doesn't mean I was okay with a it a year ago. I wasn't. I wasn't okay with the Cleveland Indians either and I'm still not.

I guess any time a subject comes up we will have to not talk about it because we didn't a year ago. Better shut this whole forum down if that's the new rule. Thanks aj!
