I definitely agree that there needs to be reform in the gun laws that are on the books. As far as having to renew your license, I have no issue with that. People renew and pay for licenses for all sorts of things. If you want to say that is a hoop to discourage gun ownership then you can say that about anything you have to have a current license for. If I have an expired drivers license there's a penalty as well as something as small as an expired fishing license. Those fines for expired gun licenses aren't being singled out because they involve guns. It's a leap to say that it makes it a criminal offense. The criminal offense is allowing your license to expire... not owning the gun. It's up to the gun owner to be accountable for keeping his license up to date just like any driver, hunter, or fisherman. If he doesn't then he has to deal with the penalty.
I personally have no problem with back ground checks taking a whole week or so. To me it's an important thing. Now I won't argue with you that they probably need to be altered to catch mental disorders as well. Although I'm not sure of the legalities of that exactly when involving people's metal state. I personally don't see an issue with people having to take testing to check their mental capabilities when getting a gun license. However, at this point there are so many loop holes for individuals to sell handguns to other individuals that anyone can get around the laws... To me that seems to be something that needs to be monitored much more closely.

True, but those are state by state and does not discourage the common person. Just gives them something more to complain about. If I want a gun I'm going to get one no matter how long the waiting period.

So you're against the NRA but you'll advertisadvertise for them because you think their purse is cute.
You hate the confederate flag but you display one in your house because it looks neat on a car.
You not a hypocrite how?

It's all good now for you there Veg, the NRA has finally bridged the gap to the Black Man...........
Raso, a U.S. Navy SEAL veteran, said in a video uploaded to YouTube on Sunday that gun control laws were like Jim Crow laws because owning and carrying a firearm was a civil right.
“Just because someone makes a law that says you can’t buy, own, or carry a weapon doesn’t make it lawful,” he remarked. “Jim Crow laws were also passed and enforced and those were equally unconstitutional.”
