I am regularly astounded at the negativity of many of your posts. Anywhoo, there's an ebb and flow to just about any market. Habit change/shift over time. What's popular today won't be popular tomorrow, but something new will be. I don't believe there is any need for doomsday talk about the hobby dying. It's all over-analyzing shifts in how the hobby is maintained/accessed/discussed etc.

Everyone thought Series 1 boxes would be $100 in the future based on the rookie class....too bad UD never stopped the presses....

If they would stop buying junk, the prices would drop north of the border too.
Mind youk, little LCS are very stubborn and will let the product sit for years before they drop it..

I would encourage you, someone who can make many trades, to add to the conversation and not troll the conversation. Your perspective interests me. I heavily use eBay because I ONLY collect Red Deer Rebels cards... if I didn't collect that specifically, I would probably make more trades... although a member on here is VERY PATIENTLY waiting for me to get my lazy butt over to my storage locker and pull out some ITG International Ice (sorry for breaking timeline promises over and over again!!).
Oh - and my name is Rob (or Rraincock if you please) and not freEBAYer. I think we are a little past names like that on this site... I hope.
If not, then na-na-na-poo-poo to you as well sir. (or ma'am).

You got my attention by saying the Hobby is dead. Then like so many others you then proceeded to talk about the money issue that is driven by the greed of the NHLPA, the card companies and con artists who merely pose as hobbyists. If you had said the Sportscard Business is dead I would not have chimed in on your thread, which seems to focus on making a buck off of the hobby. Despite the aforementioned, there will always be a hobby and collectors, and it might help grow a younger generation of collectors if all the card values were to bottom out. Cheers

Well, you're right I should've kept it. Unfortunately some awful luck put me into a situation to selling it and other cards I held dear. I did have it at a BIN/BO and never got one single offer for over 10 days. Couldn't wait forever. I have been checking out ebay for 12 years. It was never like this. The economy plays a role too I am sure.
For value it used to have to be a base rookie then it was rare inserts, then it was numbering, then autographs, then jerseys, then jersey autographs, then patches, then patch autographs. Now it has to be a low numbered true rookie autograph patch but not a boring one color patch. Where is this going to end up?
