Mrazek is the worst goalie i've seen play for the leafs in a long while. Every game he allows 2 goals that are questionable and that's on a good day. That goal from the side boards and the 4th goal... what was he thinking? Matthews continues to impress and that line played well but again the 2nd line was a no show and willy made another bone head play that thwarted any chance at a come back. Other than that go leafs go!

Well, How about Kallgren in his1st Career Start getting the Win & the Shut Out!!!! Leafs played a much better all around game tonight. I know Dallas had 35 shots on Net but how many of them were Good chances to score? If they had 5 i would be shocked. Nice to see the Leafs management not allow Mrazek to blow another game for us. That guy couldnt stop a Beach Ball right now!!

Kallgren should have the net until Campbell is back and hopefully Mrazek gets traded bc most Leafs fans should want him gone. Not sure what the deal was with him since he has been a decent goalie in his career. For whatever he did not perform as a leaf and is one move management has to swallow. BUT. speaking of leafs fans, they rode Freddie Andersen out of town for all intensive purposes and how good would he look as a leafs goalie right now? I think Dubas learned from that mistake and that is why he is hoping Campbell works out of his struggles. He is still very new as an NHL starter and deserves as many chances as anyone has every warranted.

I have lost all faith in Dubas & Shanny. We need D-Men & all the good ones that are available are getting picked up by other teams.
How we cant win a Cup with Matthews, Marner & Tavares as our Top 3 is mind Boggling!! Our Teams in 2016 & 2017 were by far better than the team we have now. We should have kept Kapanen, & Conner Brown, maybe even Matt Martin but instead they give all the money to Nylander. We probably could have signed Kapanen & Brown for what we gave Nylander & those 2 are good for 20 plus goals a year, far more than Nylander has provided us.
We can not & will not win with these guys in the lineup, Nylander, Liljegren, Sandin, Engvall, (we seeing a pattern here?), We are as soft as Summer Butter!!
I hope this will be the last year we have Dubas, he has no clue!!
How many more years do we have Matthews & Marner? 3 or 4 more? Whatcha wanna bet they both leave Toronto when they're contracts are finished & i do not blame them whatsoever..

Matthew's contract runs out at the end of the 2023-24 season, so two more after this one. Same season Nylander's deal is up.

Marner (and Tavares) have one more year after those guys.

I thought for sure when Carolina made it 2-1 that we were going to blow this game but thank you Andre Kase.
I gotta say i thought we were going to get hammered tonight. Carolina is a very good team & with Matthews out & a Goalie making his 2nd career start i didnt think we had a chance but the Leafs played a very solid defensive game in front of him. Makes you wonder where the same effort is when Campbell & Mrazek are starting.
If there's an NHL record for most boneheaded Too Many Men on the Ice penalties the Leafs gotta have that record!! Ive also noticed lately that we are not getting the same calls that we are getting penalized for. The other team can do the same thing we get penalized for & no call is made. Total BS!!
Hats off to Eric Kallgren, you know that kid must have been super nervous & he more than held his own again. I hope he gets the next start on Saturday, he has more than earned it. Cant count on Mrazek right now either.
I believe this win puts us in 2nd place in the division now but Tampa has a game or 2 in hand on us.

I don't know why people hate on Dubas. He got Kampf, Bunting and Kase for next to nothing and has built a winning team in the regular season. He can not determine how well they play on the ice and on paper the leafs have one of the deepest teams in the league. Can't ask for much more than that. There is also no way in hell any of those top guys go into free agency. I can see Nylander maybe getting traded since he seems to be most expendable over the years, but Marner and Matthews are what make this team go and it has been proven time and time again.

I hope the team continues to play well with Kalgreen and the pressure of Campbell to do everything on his own is lifted bc mrazek is done as a leaf and good riddance!

Once Matthews & Marner's contracts are over they are free to go wherever they choose, Toronto doesnt have a choice in that matter so to say they aren't going anywhere is pure speculation at best.
I thought we caught Tampa but we are still 1 point back. With 3 games against Tampa, Florida & 2 against the Bruins the Leafs control they're own destiny.
Yeah, Dubas got Kase & Bunting & they were good moves but there are bad moves too like Ritchie, Mrazek, giving away Mason Marchment & Barabanov for absolutely nothing & he keeps playing Sandin & Liljegren even though they are clearly not ready & maybe never will be. How long is he going to wait to make a trade to help this D-Core out. Our core forwards work hard to give us the lead & our D or Goalies blows it on us most nights. That cant happen in this league if you want to win. I am not a fan of Dubas & thats just a fact. It is what it is. Not everyone has to like him.
& the bad i mentioned is basically just from this year. There was Tyson Barrie, (huge flop) & we gave up Kadri. Then there was Nick Foligno, the best thing that guy did for us was fight Corey Perry for accidently hitting Tavares. How bout Joey Anderson for Andreas Johnsson? a perennial 20 goal scorer for a career minor leaguer. Connor Brown was another guy i would have kept. 20 Goals every year, a penalty killer, very good in his own zone & an affordable contract. Whats not to love about that guy?
At what point does the bad outweigh the bit of good he has done?
