    This is getting annoying~

I mean seriously... This place is becoming more n more like EBAY every day. Understand this, I am not criticizing the mods by any means and think they do a fantastic job here.

However is there any way we can do away w/ posts like "I want your Maurice Jones Drew cards", "I want all Romo/Bush/Tomlinson/Gore/Jones-Drew."

Its such a croc, if u want those cards of THOSE players, go to Ebay and buy some man!

These are the people who dont collect for the enjoyment of collecting, these are people in it for making $$. This site to my knowledge is NOT what that is about!!!!!!!!

Im waiting for someone to post, "I want your Artose Pinner" cards.

Hell, I saw a "Need your Ladell Betts cards" WHEN HAVE WE EVER SEEN THAT?? Never!!!!!!!. The guy was a 02 draft pick from Iowa who no one cared about, now people want him.

And these same people that want all the "hot players" should atleast trade 2x the book value, and they still wont.

Can we do something about these posts for every player that has a great week

What happened to all the posts about Hank Baskett?? He had a 40yard catch in preseason, posts were pooring in and now when was the last one posted of someone saying "I want Baskett"?

    This is such crap man

I love this site more than anything man! I visit it 5+ times a day, have met some tremendous people here and completed over 200+ trades/sales etc etc.

But its getting to the point that if people are posting such things as "i want Gore/Jones-Drew" You should be prepared for mockery!

Personally I agree BUT not all of the people that post I want so and so are bandwagoners. Some of these people actually follow that team so you cant rag on every one but other than that I agree.

Without these people you have to think where the hobby would be?

Couldnt agree with you more brother and im willing to bet the people who are asking for those players arent over 18. Im not dissing all youngsters but in my 3 years of dealing on this site I can tell when im talking with a collector or someone who sees our hobby as a way of "getting rich" I know im not a Mod or anything but I have a strong feeling that nothing can be done about it because they are not breaking any rule at all in asking for the "hot" players. I know its annoying but my suggestion is to avoid those posts.

breath Rob, its the way the card monster is now, and I feel the exact same way, if that hot player happens to be on your favorite team, ie: ROMO,Barber,Julius....you have so much less of a chance to get their card because of the way people eat them up to resell or whatever.....try to find a way to make it work in your favor maybe, trade them 2x-5x the bv, you'll make out in the end if you trade for the quality career players....just my .01 cent buddy

I know that I'm one of them that posted the "Want your Maurice Jones-Drew Cards", but I'm not in it for the money. I collected cards from when I was about 4 until I was a freshman in high school. I started collected again last year. The Jaguars have always been a team that I kind of liked, but never really said it to anyone. Jones-Drew happens to be a young budding start who has a lot of upside so I chose to collect him. I could have picked a number of people but he happened to be one that I started to collect the most. I can attribute part of the reason I collect him to his good games in previous weeks, but that's not the soul reason I collect, just because he's good. I was looking for a young back and someone who has a bright future, Jones-Drew fits the bill.

I'm sure his cards have sky rocketed in price by now since he had an outstanding game today, which for me being a college student is not good. I know there will be plenty of people jumping on his bandwagon now too. There are number of guys that I'd like to collect, but if I did that I'd be stretching my income to thin trying to get as many cards as I can of 3 or 4 guys.

Thinking about it from a different point of view, some of these people might have been collecting these players for awhile, and are now asking about them since they are doing good and people are probably looking through their collections to see what they have.

I don't want to be considered someone who is on Jones-Drew's bandwagon, but I'm sure some will say I am. I'm just dreading the price of his cards going up now...

I've got to agree, if I see another post like "ROMO/GORE/LT/LJ/BARBER/JONES-DREW/COLSTON/BETTS," I might throw up.

i agree to a point, but then again it is an opportunity for you to get rid of those cards of them that you would have never had a chance of moving before. if you can sell a romo that you bought for .50-1.00 in 2003 for 10.00-20.00 do it and buy them back when they cool off. take that money and buy what and who you collect then.
i only collect jim thorpe, red grange, and bronko nagurski cards so these guys will never have anymore good games.

well. This place is a card forum and I`m sure people come here to find what they want. I came here a few years ago because I was looking for a 2001 Quantum Leaf card that I still havn`t found yet. :) Best thing to do is to ignore them if it bothers you so much. If those posts were all you saw on the first page, then yes, something would need to be done, but I don`t think anyone is spamming the board. Simply looking for what they want.

I've seen these posts dozens of times when a player has a "hot" game. For me, the enjoyment comes from watching all the people who are wanting them for "bandwagon" purposes or to flip the cards. At one point or another 95% of the "hot at the time" players are going to end up in a common box somewhere then you will have the folks who spent/traded ridiculously to get them sitting there with some goon that no one wants after a few weeks :) Now THAT is funny to me!!!!

I have wanted to collect Chris Brown since his debut in the NFL...at one point he was on fire and I just sat back patiently and waited.....now I can get his cards for pennies compared to before. I picked up one of his numbered to /5 autographs for under $8 DLVD. Should he become hot again, I will put my collecting him on hold since I refuse to pay out ridiculous amounts for a player.

There really is nothing that can be done about the posts unless there is a user making multiple posts constantly over and over. It is frustrating trying to trade, because unless you have any of "those" players you are pretty much scoffed at and ignored. Just join me in gloating when all is said and done and the "Pinner" and "Betts" cards go back to the commons prices and knowing some folks got hosed LOL.

For those who truly collect those players/teams...I would bet they already have a plentiful bunch of the lesser known guys and they can rejoice in the fact that they didn't have to give an arm and a leg for them ;)

    Peace~

Honestly guys, I don't see what the problem is. This is a sports card site, it nowhere says that people can't use it to attempt to make money. Not that I at all support these very 'impressionable' collectors, but as BlackDiamond said, they eventually realize how totally screwed they got on that Pinner or Betts card. I don't think that the 'real' collectors out there should consider themselves so high and mighty to be able to call out other collectors for not having a consistent approach to the market. I think its hilarious as well, I actually started a thread about it last week, but some people are getting literally mad at these young guys. I just don't think there's any point to make them feel stupid, they'll realize that they are soon enough.
