As long as Trump thinks it looks like he won, even though it actually looks like Canada and Mexico stood up to a bully and he backed down, he'll be good. It's all about the ego.

It wasn't anything we did, or Mexico, the Mango Moron was looking for a way out after the stock market tanked and going down to the last minute makes it look like he was swayed by last minute deals and he is being generous. Wall St called and said enough, the tariffs were going to hurt the bottom line and the investors were dumping stock like a trip to the loo after taco night. Changing it to a pause for 30 days is only so they can try and get more press on their side to change the public perception.
The best thing everyone can do is prepare for early march because he is going to try again. He wants tariffs to replace income tax so that the entire burden of the country is on the lower classes. If you like the thought of no income tax, the no income tax with tariffs will cause inflation on everything beyond anything you have seen, followed by taxes being brought back after international sellers will move to other markets with less barriers.
But at least 30 days until we have to face the tariffs, and at least another week or two after that before seeing cards potentially added to the lists...
...unless they change their minds and add them right away. Dun-Dun DUN!!!Last edited by mikecole141; 02-04-2025 at 11:09 AM.

If there is a price increase I just hope there are ways to work around it. Like people/companies using a US border mailing address/po box/service to pick up items in the US and have them delivered over the border avoiding Tarriff cost. Online breakers in the US busting your products then having them shipped to your address, Having your cards sent to your COMC where you can have them delivered to you anytime, etc. I feel like the major retail companies will use a loophole but use the tariff thing to gouge prices. I could see retail not being worth buying anymore.
Overall I'm pretty tired of how our neighbors are being treated, let alone the possibility of them having to dish out up to 25% more money on cards for no good reason. If it starts affecting the hobby that I love...I will absolutely head a Hockey Cards underground railroad and start digging from UD to the border.

I've been out of the loop ever since Bedard mania hit, stopped buying product...but got the urge last week so I stopped by a local hobby shop...thought maybe I would grab a few packs of series 1, or whatever, but nope, $20 or more per pack isn't my thing. 3 packs for a $20, sure...at last a 50% chance at a YG, or something cool.
I thought prices may have gone down since Bedard isn't setting the world on fire, so the idea they may go up even more, wow, in this economy?? Oh well...

Trump to announce 25% steel and aluminum tariffs in latest trade escalation
So much for the thirty day pause. What reciprocal tariffs will Canada put in place, or will they? Even with the 25% tariffs, some accounts state that the Canadian Steel will still be cheaper than the US Steel by a small percentage.
The big thing will be if Canada puts any tariffs on items coming in from the States as a response, and if they do will it include Sports Cards this time around?
This could cost jobs in the US, but the billionaires will get their tax cuts.

Trump's illegal and unjust trade war is having an immediate impact.
PSA just announced they'll be pausing acceptance of all grading submissions incoming from Canada, Mexico, and China.
Any submissions already en route will be subject to the tariffs at the border.

I don't know why PSA doesn't just open up shop in Canada. IMO opinion there are enough card collectors in Canada that can justify a location up here

Deleted this too fast because I didn't read Richards whole post.
Apparently Bulk Submissions through dealers and LCSs are still being done through PSA Canada as well. The only suspension is direct submissions from Canada, Mexico, and China. PSA has said they are working with the dealers to minimize the tariffs. As for Canadian tariffs, the last time I checked the list the category for Trading Cards was not on the current tariff list, it may be added in the future which will hurt anything coming back when/if they are applied.Last edited by mikecole141; 03-06-2025 at 12:33 AM.
