Why do the Toronto Maple Leafs Suck So Bad?

Losers of three games in four nights when their season is hanging in the balance.

Captain has dramatically under-performed all season.

Players literally tripping over each other.

Getting pumped by the Sens on home ice.

Sitting with the Titanic at the bottom of the Atlantic.

I almost want to un-ban jameslacarte and invite him personally to see this thread.

Personally, living in the GTA, nothing makes me happier than when they do badly. I am a Canucks fan, and yes we suck! But we embrace it, we don’t expect to win the cup every year.

But I get made fun of by Leafs fans, I have heard how Hughes is overrated… funny I don’t hear that any more.

They best part is Team tank for the Canucks means a high 1st round draft pick… What are the leafs getting for their tank?

Only my opinion, but when Harold Ballard bought the Team, he changed the Culture! He essentially told the media, and fans " We're the Leafs! Who cares if we win, the fans are always gonna fill the seats!" Now, even though they suck harder than an Electrolux, fans have that same sense of entitlement.
Also, since the Pat Quinn days (RIP to the big cigar sucking Irishman), it's NEVER cuz they suck, it's because officiating is always so terrible!

So when I first moved to Toronto. A few decades ago. I embraced the Maple Leafs, except when they played the Canucks. I never made fun of them, watched most their games, etc. It was just over year after year being made fun of…I suppose I could sue for pain and suffering, but that just doesn’t seem very Canadian. So now I actively root for any team playing the Leafs.

Although this year it does seem more fans are starting to except reality, and should this happen maybe I will come back, with the exception of when they play the Canucks.
