Hey now! Brady can read!! He just doesn't know when to shut his mouth!Last edited by SenatorCollector; 03-03-2026 at 03:05 PM. Reason: Apparently I cursed
Always looking for Senators cards! Must be a draft pick, or the card is identifiable as a Senators card before I want it!
As most of you know, I suffered a fairly severe stroke in April '25, so mail goes out anytime!

I think it starts with Brad Treliving and Craig Berube, higher ups and their trade team.
Look at the mess Brad created in Calgary. Believe they are in worse shape than the Leafs but the Leafs are on the way down. Calgary may have bottomed out right now.
Why would the higher ups want Treliving he is old school and the game has change. We need new school like we had with Keefe and Dubois. They played a much more entertaining brand of hockey but sadly not much playoff success.
Leafs need to get out of the past and change with the times.
In Craigs defence he did inherit a roster that does not play his style of hockey but many players have been changed to his style of player. You know the big slow moving stick waving aged defencemen that do not play physical. He I am sure has had input on who to bring in.
On the trade front i am sure all teams must lick their chops when Toronto comes calling for a trade.
A first round pick and top prospect for a bottom pair defencemen, Carlo maybe a #4 dman. Top prospect (Minton) last i checked was in the top 10 in rookie points. Mainly because Boston has given him a chance. Leafs do not like giving the young guys a chance to grow and learn at the NHL level. They rather trade for people near the end of the careers. A first round pick for Laughton a 3rd or 4th line centre.. WOW The trade decisions they make blow me away.
Feel my pain.

But, what about the previous 60 years?

I am surprised management hasn’t been flipped. There are still some quality pieces on the Leafs…Matthew’s, Wylander, Knies.. and maybe a couple more. They just need to figure out a strategy going forward on how to get young and retool, or do huge trades and get back draft picks, and do a complete rebuild.
But the question is will Leaf fans stand by a team in rebuild mode?
And I am a Canucks fan, I can feel your pain. Been there for many years.

I personally think until our teams when the Cup we can’t really point this out. Canucks have been in league since 1970…. I know original Sens team won the Cup, but not the current team.

My Senators have been as close as both the Leafs, and the Canucks, in the last 30 years. The problem with a lot of fans is, and again, only my opinion, but we've all accepted mediocrity from our teams for so long, it's the norm, now. Look at the Canadiens. Their last GREAT team, was 76-77, but they, like the Leafs, coast by on history

I think the Sens look great, I also think the Canadiens are a very exciting team right now having had a very successful rebuild. Of course they may argue 93 was a pretty good year for them.
I was only referring to mocking the Leafs for not having won the cup… as for as being mediocre over the last 60 years, I buy that. The Canucks did field a great team back in 2010 with the sedins, Luongo… ahh those were the days .
So 2007, Sens made the final, 2010 Canucks made the final, the poor Leafs 67!
As for us excepting mediocrity your right, but with hockey being many Canadians favourite past time what option do we have?

Bradinn, my point was, and every team, in every league, regardless of sport, does it....they all live on past glory. Some teams try to build on the history, like the Yankees. Others are happy to relive their glory days, like the Leafs
