I had several problems with this game.
First, I blame 75% of this loss on the Charger's coaching staff.
Towards the end of the first half the Chargers were up 14-3 and give the ball to the Pats with under 2 minutes to go in the half. In 11 plays Brady drives down the field for a TD. Why? Because the Chargers didn't blits a single play in 11 plays and played prevent D. Why not play defense that kept the Patriots out of the end zone for 28 minutes?
The Charger's took Ladainian Tomlinson out of the game after the first half, not the Patriots. The Chargers were up 10 points towards the end of the third quarter and with the ball. First play they give to LT who gets 6 yards. What do they do after that? Pass 2 times for in completions and turning the ball Back over. That was a key turning point in the game in my opinion. I would have given LT the back 3 more times. Does anyone think LT can get 4 yards in 3 plays?
Finally, I place the other 25% of the loss on the terrible officiating. The Chargers were called for 15 yards personal fouls twice. The first was a Charger defender getting in the face of a Patriot and the Patriot pushing him in the face. Who got the penalty? The Charger. This should have been off-setting fouls. The second was during an extra point.
Then when the Chargers are driving down the field for the last drive of the game Philip Rivers hikes the ball and spikes it to stop the clock. A Patriot defender rushes through and knocks down Rivers after the spike and no flag is thrown. If the 15 yard penalty was called the Chargers would have been kicking a 38 yard field goal for a tie and not a 53 yard attempt.
Overall, the Patriots did well with the opportunities that were giving to them. The Chargers defense intercepted Brady 3 times and that was outstanding on their part.
There was two bad plays for the Chargers players. First, the muffed punt/fumble by Eric Parker who doesn't know how to fall on a fumble and the corner that intercepted Brady on a 4th down instead of knocking the ball down. You DO NOT intercept a 4th down pass because there is a large chance you will have better field position with a knock down than an interception.
The Patriots desered to win based off their better coaching, but I feel the refs once again ruined this game by calling all personal fouls on the Chargers and none of the Pats.

This can be explained. The Charger grabbed the Patriot and tried to toss him to the ground and instead tossed him into his own quarterback. I thought it should've been a 15-yarder too, but they showed the replay with the Charger having a bearhug on the Patriot.
Overall, it was a good game. Too many yellow flags. Too many late hits on BOTH sides. I understand the intensity of the game and playoffs, but man, a lot of shoving and smacking around. Did you see the Pats cornerback smack the Charger in the helmet and not get called? A lot of just bad playing on both sides, but the Pats made the most of their opportunities. And yes, the Chargers didn't use L.T. enough because New England couldn't stop him.
Playoff winning experience won out... not just between quarterbacks, but between coaches. Wonder if Marty will be back next year.
But on the weekend overall... four GREAT playoff games. You couldn't ask for a better football weekend (unless you were on the losing end lol).
Can't wait for next week! Brady-Bellichick 12-1!

I agree! I still can't believe how under utilized Tomlinson was! Philip Rivers kept throwing the ball for incompletions. Tomlinson would run for 10 yards, then Rivers would throw two more passes. Didn't make any sense to me! When your top player is hot, stay with him!
Also, what was with Marty NOT calling for a review with the Vincent Jackson catch in the end-zone, but reviewing that fumble, which a 3 year old could have seen it was a fumble? I thought the Vincent Jackson catch would have went 50-50% the Chargers way.
