The packages you mail, are these through the teller or the automated machine?

Okay guys here is the problem as the it all about THICKNESS. I done some reading on this and as many above before have said it going to kill business on EBAY for small value items. Bad for ebay and shipping cost are just going to get crazy (as it was bad before) NOW WAIT AND SEE!!

Here is link to the All the prices via the USPS

    Rates and Fees

Now look at the First Class Mail RETAIL FLATS: Go to the bottom and you will see this CLAUSE
Flat-size pieces with certain characteristics (see 101.2.0) are subject to parcel rates.

If the item was a FIRST Class Mail Retail Flats it would cost only .80 cents versus the $1.13 on the price sheet below.

For keys and ID devices, add $0.70. If more than 13 ounces, see retail Priority Mail rates

P.S. I have a feeling we might start seeing shipping in WHITE ENVELOPES in the future as that will save dollars as they as it not as THICK which will save on the shipping cost big time. I hope I am wrong!!!

I purchase and print out all of my postage labels for shipping cards thru PayPal and normally leave them at my mailbox for USPS pick-up...Most of the time I never have to step foot in a post office.

    Additional info regarding size/restrictions...

Domestic Mail Manual - PDF Version

Also regarding delivery confirmation, which is now $0.75 retail, but only $0.18 electronic. This means, even if I go to the post office and am able to mail a #000 padded envelope with one card (1 oz.) at the flat-size rate of $0.80, plus delivery confirmation of $0.75 for a grand total of $1.55, it would still be cheaper to purchase the postage and delivery confirmation electronically thru PayPal and only pay a grand total of $1.31 ($1.13 + $0.18). Unfortunately, PayPal does not make a distinction between a package and a thick envelope.

incredible!! i went to the same p.o. today to mail a card in the same type 000 bubble envelope as yesterday. the clerk charges me .80 for the package. i told her i paid $1.13 yesterday, her reply was that this one looked thinner! they have no way to measure the thickness so it will be up to each clerk to decide. all i can say is it better not end up going postage due to the buyer. hard to say how this is gonna end up, but it ain't good for us! perry

thats funny...the lady at mine who is really good...not the typical clueless postal clerk explained it to me that any mailer with padding inside is considered a thick envelope and uses the parcel post amount...she said the 2 envelope settings are for white envelopes.

Due to the volume of bubblers received and sent everyone knows me at the P.O. so I think I'll stop by and get their take on it.

But I think its gonna go just like DC. If my envelope wasn't 3/4 inch thick they would not send DC. So it should be along those lines. But depending on which teller I went to some didn't even look when I ask for DC they just did it. But not one of them has anything to measure thickness? So it ought to be fun on Friday when I mail out all my trades.

I had to mail a couple packages this morning and it costs me a little over $3.00 for two packages in bubble mailers...When I was waiting in line for my turn there were other people who had stuff in bubble mailers and not one of the clerks had anything either to measure the thickness of the packages, they were just throwing them on the scale and figuring the postage that way..

The clerks here always check the thickness of a package when you ask for delivery confirmation, if it isnt 3/4 or over they wont let you use it even if you are a tiny bit off...Thanks Ed
I only trade by Beckett price guide, not eBay comp or SV, TV..I also do not collect any Panini or Donruss Baseball products..

    Perry,
Funny, now you know who to wait for. IF she doesnt' call your name you just let everyone go first as you know who to go to LOL.

    Ed,
They have a guage (Cardboard with a slot) for that at my office. As I remember one day I asked if I could have that. As I do DEL CONFIRM a lot and was like can you just give me one of those to make my life EASIER. As they have done that to me SORRY, SIR THE PACKAGE IS NOT THICK ENOUGH AND I GO HOME AND FIX IT. That can be a pain when they could just give you the slot in the cardboard that they use to determine it.

    Geroge,
