First law of thermodynamics, my friends:
Energy cannot be destroyed; rather, it is transformed from one form to another.

I Didnt Used To Believe In Ghosts Until I Had An Experience. I Was Staying With My Dad In Pueblo, Co For The Summer When I Was 16. The Neighborhood He Lives In Used To Be Housing For The Army Base. I Was Asleep In The Basement By Myself And Out Of Nowhere I Rose Up In Bed Wide Awake To A Figure Standing Right Over Me Sticking His Hand In My Face. I Know I Wasnt Seeing Things As A Light Was On In The Next Room And I Could Perfectly Make Out His Figure But Still See Through It. It Was Wearing A Trenchcoat And White Gloves(i Dont Know How I Noticed This But Thats The Main Thing That Sticks Out In My Head Everytime I Think About It). After A Few Seconds, It Retracted Its Hand And Walked Away Completely Disappearing Before It Left The Room. I Told My Dad About It And After Doing A Little Research At The Library, I Found Out That In The 50's There Was A Transient(bum) That Killed 7 People In The Neighborhood. He Didnt Rob Any Of The Homes. He Just Broke In And Killed The People Inside(5 Seperate Occurences Of 1 Woman And One Occurence Of A Woman And Her 13 Yr Old Son). The Thing That Made The Hair On My Back Stand Up Was That It Described Him As Walking Around Wearing A Tranchcoat And White Gloves!!! Makes The Hair On The Back Of My Neck Thinking About It Now!!!!

Why do you hate Tom Cruise so much? This is the second time you've gone out of your way to insult him.

To address the other side of the issue, there is a stage of sleep where you are basically paralyzed. If you awake during this state, you are unable to move and have a floating sensation.

Yeah, I've studied that pretty thoroughly. There is something called astral projection where, if you can time it correctly, you can control your own dreams during this paralysis. It's very complicated to explain, but I believe it to be true.

I've contemplated using an ouija board, but I don't know if I'm emotionally stable enough for something like that.

I both believe and have had numerous experiences. I am a paranormal investigator, although I am still searching for a new group since moving here to Utah. I love the show GhostHunters as well :)
I have one mist photo I caught and a slew of EVP's we caught.....it's a very cool and interesting thing!
Peace~

Jayjagfan did a good job explaining it, but here are my thoughts on it as well. What you are referring to here, is called "Astral Travel", where the belief is you have an "out of body experience." It is where your body is said to stay in one place, but your spirit is released (but still has a cord attached to your body, so to speak) where your able to do just about anything.
