Yeah, there are definitely cards that already have little creases around the memorabilia.

Of course any package has a chance of being damaged because stuff happens sometimes. Nobody said it's a guarantee. But like I already said, your chances are immensely magnified when sending in a PWE or other unpadded and/or reinforced packaging.

I'm up to about 150 trades in PWEs. Only two had problems coming to me (none of the ones I sent have ever had problems), which is similar to my ratio with bubble mailers.
But I never use PWEs for GU, and I rarely use them for more than 2 cards.
And I specify the use of PWE before the trade is posted, and if the other person insists on bubble, I will use it.

Putting 1-2 base cards or cheap inserts in a white envelope has never been a problem for me,but I always ask beforehand just in case. I've done it many times (the guy in the post above me being one of them) and have never had a complaint. On the other hand, putting game used cards in a white envelope is just wrong and that person should be left appropriate feedback so others can see their wrongdoing for future reference.

i use pwe envelopes a lot, but if its a gu i put it in a screwdown or snapdown so it has no chance of getting damaged.

Believe it or not I have seen screw downs cracked and bent by a mail sorting machine.

I only use a PWE (sleeve and top loader) for 1-2 base or insert cards if the other trader agrees. I have never had a problem with damaged cards in a PWE. Anything else goes in a bubble mailer.

If you follow certain rules your cards should ALWAYS get to destination unharmed. First id using a PWE always mark on it or bubblers for that matter.
DO NOT BEND! plus if you just take the time to ensure the card is protected yes I've had snaptites crushed and card messed up worse thanks to the sender. If the card goes through the roller machine its gonna get creased.
but these are things that should be discussed before trading. Especially if you intend to ship in a PWE.
