DRAFT: Who won? Who lost?
I know ESPN hasn't had a full analysis yet to tell us all what to think, but what does everybody think of the draft? Some things that stuck out to me:
KC had a great draft in my opinion. Filled some holes and they seemed to get a lot of players that could've been picked higher than they were.
I know everybody is high on McFadden and he may end up being exactly what the Raiders need, but I highly doubt it. They had other holes they needed to fill before RB. I say give Michael Bush a shot before you draft someone else to replace him. Plus they got no OL to protect JaMarcus, which they needed desperately.
Green Bay drafted 2 QBs, which I wasn't expecting. I understand getting one and I'm happy they got Brohm, I like him as a player and just personally. I guess they want some choices and some competition to bring out the best in Rodgers.
I thought Tennessee should have gone after a WR sooner. When Roydell Williams is your #1 guy, you need WR. I like Chris Johnson and I'm glad he's a Titan, but there were some pretty good WRs up there that would have helped them more in my opinion. At least they did get Lavelle Hawkins, who I think will be a nice addition.
Carolina is obviously obsessed with the tandem backs. I thought DeAngelo was finally getting his chance to shine, but they picked up Stewart to add to the committee. Not a bad pick and I think it will work fine, but DeAngelo has to be wishing he could have a shot to be an elite back.
I don't like what Chicago did in a couple of key areas. I think they really need a QB, Grossman or Orton aren't the answer....but nothing. And I don't think Matt Forte is the answer they need at RB. At best, he will take some carries for Benson...but I was thinking they needed to get a guy that could replace Benson if not this year, then next.
It's pretty clear Cincy is planning on 2008 without Chad Johnson...3 WRs taken, including 2nd and 3rd Round picks. Why won't they trade him?
The Jets needed to get a RB and they didn't. I thought Gholston was a good pick and filled a need, but they probably should have gone RB at pick 30 instead of TE.
It looks like Philly is really trying to protect McNabb, or else they're planning for life without him. They picked up 3 OTs in the draft, granted they were in Round 4 and below.
I saw in the late rounds that Indy picked up 2 TEs....why? I can see getting one if you need somebody behind Dallas Clark and Utecht(sp?), but two?
On a personal level, my Clemson Tigers didn't do as good as I'd hoped. Merling dropped to the 2nd Rd and went to Miami. Why can none of my Clemson boys go to teams I like anymore? Gaines to TB and Stuckey to NYJ last year and now this. At least Barry Richardson went to KC, I can handle that. Nick Watkins and Chris McDuffie didn't go though...I think Watkins has a pretty good shot at being picked up FA style though.
The guys that I'm looking at collecting this year changed a little. Definitely Phillip Merling and Barry Richardson, my Clemson guys. Also looking at Chris Johnson and Lavelle Hawkins since they went to Tennessee and some of Brian Brohm and Jordy Nelson w/the Packers....and maybe a few of Matt Flynn (not an LSU fan at all). Merling and Tashard Choice were the 2 guys I knew I wanted to collect before the draft, but then the Cowboys had to go and pick Choice. So he's out, only way I collect a Cowboy is if they were a Clemson Tiger first.
I know I'm not a professional analyst or anything and I guarantee they all know more than I do, but those are just some things that stuck out to me. What did others notice? Who had a good draft and who didn't? How did your team do, college or pro? And who did you pick up as a PC collection based on where they went?

All the hype on the draft, but I guess when it's over, it's over. Too much draft already this weekend?

hey bro, here is some of my take:
Kansas City - had a awesome draft
Steelers - had a good one to with Meldenhall and Sweed, I think both are quality players.
Titans- I am a Titans fan and I felt they made some horrible picks, no WR till round 4, we did get a blazing fast back in Johnson but what about White, and we did draft Henry last year who in my opinion is explosive as well.
49'ers - wasn't to thrilled here
Packers - I don't agree with Brohm, I felt they could have got another QB later in the draft, I feel like they should have more faith in Rodgers.
as far as who I am collecting now, here is my list:

the ravens stole the show
they got joe flacco of delaware
there hasnt been a QB with an arm that strong out of college in a long time
and
ray rice - he averaged like 40 carries a game and most likely the only back of the 08 draft other than darren mcfadden that is in professional athletic shape... he trains 365 days a year
they could start both of them from day 1
what a steal whoever drafts for the ravens knows good football players
tho they still have troy smith so flacco may sitt another season or 2 and baltimore
might want to see troy smith actually go down in flames before pulling him
smith is a sick qb by all means but flacco is a manning / brady type qb in all aspects
of the game
i cant believe they both got drafted to the same team

Well I think my Steelers stole the show! I screamed and yelled when Not only did Mendenhall fall to us but that they actually pulled the trigger. Then I started hoping for Mario Manningham to be there in the second round. He was but holy cow so was Limas Sweed!!! We get 2 great players as the Titans should have gotten sweed thankfully they passed! The only need the Steelers missed on completely was CB. Then Dennis Dixon gets drafted, Pittsburgh has a knack of turning QB's into fantastic Wr's.
Hines Ward/Randle El, even Kordell Stewart!
Ravens & Redskins IMO also had great drafts.
Losers- Titans took 2 steps back, Browns didn't improve while everyone else in the north did. Patriots draft a QB in 3rd round and what they did get may take a year for rookies to settle in to the system. Bears BIGGEST losers of the draft. They need a QB and didn't even sniff one. Theres already trouble in Chicago with Brian U. I forsee a 7-9 record coming.

The Ravens did pretty good, but they missed filling some holes. They needed help on the D Line and at CB, which they didn't address. They did draft 2 FS though, so maybe they're thinking of converting one to a CB....I do like Flacco and Rice, those were good picks.
The Steelers probably didn't need a high profile RB, but how can you pass up on Mendenhall at that point? That was definitely an example of taking the best player available instead of filling a need.
as the Titans should have gotten sweed thankfully they passed!
They should have gone for Devin Thomas in the 1st Rd as bad as they need WRs. I guarantee the Titans war room was cursing up a storm when Pitt picked him right in front of them! Hawkins will help in Tenn, but that's what they have now, a bunch of low round draft picks...they really needed a gamebreaker!
And amen on the Bears...anybody who's still expecting anything great from Grossman is delusional.

i don't think the draft is such a big deal. check all the 1st round picks from last year and lmk how many made it in the NFL, as in STARTING. them check the year before and lmk how many are still in the NFL.
