Well I looked at the first 15 picks of the 2006 draft and I kinda saw a trend, so I stopped there. Out of a possible 240 games (15 players X 16 reg season games), the 1st 15 draft picks of 2006 started 209 games last year....I'd say they're doing ok. And most of the games missed were because of injury - Leinart, Bush, & Young account for 18 of the games not started, all because of injury. And that didn't even count Antonio Cromartie, Laurence Maroney, Joseph Addai, Santonio Holmes, DeAngelo Williams, Marcedes Lewis, etc.
And last years 1st round included Calvin Johnson, Gaines Adams, Joe Thomas, Adrian Peterson, Dwayne Bowe, Marshawn Lynch, LaRon Landry, Patrick Willis, Aaron Ross - all who contributed greatly to their new teams (I didn't take the time to check the actual starts on that one, forgive me). The only players that didn't get a lot of PT that I'm aware of are JaMarcus, Brady Quinn and Robert Meachem...and most people know by now that QBs aren't supposed to play their first year, a lot of times not even their second.
So the late rounders might not make a big impact right away or even make the team necessarily, but I think it's safe to say the 1st rounders at least start contributing pretty quickly.

lot of fun
Well this year's draft was great as always;
My opinions:
Winners:
Kansas City Chiefs:
12 picks in total & with 4-5 instant starters:
Glenn Dorsey and Brandon Albert are no brainer excellent picks. Brandon Flowers was probably the most physical corner in the draft. Jamaal Charles smarts and break away speed is a tremendous asset, can't believe he lasted till Rd 3. DaJuan Morgan is a solid safety, special teamer, but easily a starter in 2 yrs.
Brad Cottam is a sleeper that I liked going into the draft. Kevin Robinson could be their starting Return man in week 1.
Baltimore Ravens:
Flacco/Rice/Gooden/Zbikowski - all could be starters their first yr.
Atlanta Falcons:
Ryan/Baker/Lofton/Jackson/Douglas - all could be starters their first yr.
Arizona Cardinals: Rodgers Cromartie could be a bust or complete star! Calais Campbell is huge and his size is crazy for the nfl at a End. Nabbing Early Doucet as late as they did was a steal
Not gonna do the losers:)

fact81 - do you think the Falcons will start Ryan they were asked in an interview during one of the games if they are moving on without Vick and they said yes, they said they would take a QB in the draft but they also said they are committed to sitting him the first year, to give him time to adjust to the pros. Daniel.

I think if you want a QB to have a chance in the league, you almost have to sit them at least the first year. That used to be the standard operating procedure, sit them the first year or two, sometimes even more. Now everyone expects immediate production, very unrealistically. NFL is a whole lot different from college and the QB position sees the biggest change of all. A QB has to be outstanding to even have a chance his first year. If you play a QB right off the bat, chances are he's not going to do too well. By the time he starts getting used to things, his confidence is shot and people are calling for change. Then a new QB is drafted and the old one tossed aside. I think it can ruin a QBs career starting them right away and you end up wasting what could have been a good QB just because you weren't patient enough.

I heard what was said in the interview as well.
By game 2-3, Ryan will be the starter.
Considering their other options, Joey "Cutie Pie" Harrington , Chris "cant read a coverage" Redman or D.J. "Oddest release since Bernie Kosar" Shockley
I think the Falcons WANT TO WAIT a bit before starting him, but they won't have much of a choice:)

I agree, plus I don't see the harm in throwing him in there, in certain situations I think a RC should start I mean he can't give them a worse record than they already had, lol.
Bearfield - what's wrong with Peyton and Eli , they both have SB rings. Daniel.
