where does it say that emmitt should even be considered with the line he had?
in fact, if anyone knows anything about football, they should know emmitts line was responsible for half his yardage. if they don't know that, they shouldn't be allowed an opinion, well, they can have an opinion, but it doesn't count. :-)
disclaimer----aww, never mind, i don't need one here.

I don't even want to get into this discussion, just needed to point something out. This isn't a fair statement.
Irvin started in '88, Aikman in '89 and Emmitt in '90. So Aikman/Irvin only had two years pre-Emmitt.
In '88 with the illustrious Steve Pelluer at QB, Irvin caught 32 balls for 654 yards (20.4 average) and 5 TDs.
In '89, in Jimmy Johnson's first season and Aikman's only season with out Emmitt, you had a revolving door at QB with Aikman and Steve Walsh fighting it out for the franchise QB position. Irvin was injured and only played 6 games.
I agree Emmitt was a drastic upgrade at RB and one of the best of all time, but I don't think it's fair to say Aikman and Irvin weren't good based on their records before Emmitt.
