    Beckett just got an F

Yeah, I don't care what anyone says, Beckett screwed up their site completely. There are no trading forums, the "my collection" feature is very weird, and it is very hard to navigate the site. They should have tested their new format with current members and gotten feedback. I'm probably not going to use Beckett anymore for trading.

Yeah, I agree with that one. Not really sure how they determine value.

I don't know if I can fully answer that question...but...I have the start of an answer. Obviously...Beckett prices could never reflect the market perfectly. Otherwise...you'd have MILLIONS of cards whose values were ZERO. So...what you have to do is start somewhere. Say....10 cents. The crappiest of the crappy cards are worth 10 cents. The slightly less crappy are worth a quarter. So on and so forth.

While very few people would buy a Rafael Belliard AUTO JERSEY (metaphorically speaking)...even less people would be interested in his 1991 Topps. So...you have to give a "price" to both. One significantly higher than the other because autos & jerseys are collectibles based on the mere fact that they're autos & jerseys. Now, a Sammy Sosa Auto/Jersey is worth significantly more than Rafael Belliard. A Jash Hamilton more than a Sosa...so on...so forth. Thats why crappy cards can still be worth 60 bucks.

I think Beckett has the right idea...but I don't always agree with their pricing. If a Mushin Muhammad jersey card, and a Rod Gardner jersey card from the same set book the same...they should be selling for the same. Mushin Muhammad is still somewhat relevant (depending on who you talk to, hahaha)...so, this just isn't the case.

    Very sound reasoning.

yea I understand all that but say you have a load of common game used/autos it doesn't matter what a book is you'll never get it case in point sold a lot of about 500 game used with a averge bv of 6.00 per so nearly 3000.00 "book value" to a card shop for 250.00 not even a forth of bv and the dealer only got 300.00 for them off a guy at a card show so it kinda shows there is no need for book values and/or beckett.....the only thing that saves beckett is the yearly 30.00 books that are complete checklist's if the companies keep these up on there sites more beckett would probley go way under......as far as there message board I don't understand why people are so ticked other than the opg and collections but it's darn near impossiable to get a trade done there then you have to deal with all the people who have God complex's......just a conclusion I have drawn over time

the site simply does not work. all the new features they set up either do not work, or work VERY slowly. it is a shame. and i have a big issue with their changing of the message boards. why do it? the old way worked fine. i remember the old days o tha site when you had to go into the buy/sell area and find individual cards you liked, and then find someone willing to trade rather than sell. the more recent way was the message boards, and that worked much better. why would they revert to the old way and try to shove that down our throats? i often do not know what i am looking for until i see it, so looking at photobuckets is the better method. i am not sure whose idea it was over there to make this drastic change, but i hope they are now out of a job. why not ask the consumers what they want before making changes like that?

the biggest problem for me right now is entering all of my cards to my inventory.

One used to be able to go to the site. Search for say..2008 Upper Deck (main set)
and you get only and all of the base cards from the main set. Then you could check all the ones you had without leaving the page and add them to your collection.

Now you do a damn search for 2008 Upper Deck and every friggin card from 2008 comes up and you have try different things to find the ones you want...Then when you finally find it you can only check one card at a time....then, go back to your inventory and add it to the right collection.. Try doing that for 400 cards.. I waste HOURS at night just entering one card at a time...and on top of that the pages freeze up and have to reload at least once every 5 minutes.
And I pay for this crap too! Beckett ignores me and all of it's other customers

Briefly, I sort of liked the new layout, but now that a few cards have arrived fro my player collections, I absolutely hate that you can't add more than a single card to your "organize" at a time. It takes about 10 minutes just to properly sort a half dozen cards because of all the extra screens and clicking.

For Beckett's sake, I hope their parent company isn't publicly traded, otherwise they'd be tanking right about now.
