ive had like 6 nuro doc's and 4 ortho docs look at my case. they all said i am a perfect canidate for a surgey except for my age. but they all have been civilian docs. they dont know all what my body has been through in the last 6 years of being in the infantry. its like an added 7 years for every year spent in the grunts. ive been doing PT for the last 9 months and have digressed. Ive tyried 2 coulderal EPI's and a bi-laterall branch TFE and all had no effect. altertive medicine trearpy and miedical rehab all have no effect. so they really have exausted all resources except going under the knife. i originally was injured almost 5 years ago, so this is a ong term injurie that has never been really treated before. but good luck with you back man. i know what your going through. take it easy man.

Before going under the knife there at Pendleton, can you get another Doc's opinion? Pretty sure you can, go find a civilian doc and get him to look into your case.

Now if they do separate you you should be eligible for retraining. Not sure on all the in and out's.

Remember your Gunny might be the best one to ask for advice.

    basketballstar-thanks man.

chaos- i have had several doc's oppionis, both military and civilian. all of them have said the same thing, if i was a little older or if you aren't getting better. they said that 9 months ago and i havent responded to anything. now the way the master chief down at Point Loma explained it to me is that i dont have 10 years in so im not eligible for medical retirement but i will more likey have 100% disability. now the question is are they going to med sep me or just an admin sep. thats basickly what DC will decide. he also said they will probally lean more towards med sep so that way ill have full medical benifits when i do get out.

    Shane,

Although I am not aware of the policy, it would seem silly to pay a guy at home when he may be able to still do work w/o the physical push. I wish you the best of luck in what ever you attend as this is no light matter.

Med sep would make sense. Keep all of your records and paperwork, CYA. If you do get 100%, then they retrain you to be something else in civilian life. Not that I thought you would have been a merc after your tour was up. Best of luck to you and if you need to talk, pm me and we can talk.

prohet-yea they would retrain me if they could, but everyone has to be able to do atleast the bare minimum to stay in. if not, im just taking up valuable space they could fill with someone else who can do my job. espically being a grunt. there is only room for 18,000 out of the total 210,000 marines that are 03's (grunts) me being hurt not able to do my job, on any job really due to my injuries, they see it as me taking up space that they could fill it with some one who is deployable.

chaos-me merk...ummmmm...LOL i thought about either Trippel Cannapy or Blackwater but then i got married, had a kid and got hurt. so i started on my way to getting my AA so hopefully by the time i get out(when ever that my be) i should have enough credits to transfer to a 4 year back home. and thanks for the invite to chat. i may have to take you up on that someday!

I have had back surgery. removes my l3-l4 or l4 l5 discs cant remember which.

Had a herniated Disc. Was in real bad pain for about 3-4 days after surgery When ya move it feels like the staples are gonna rip out. After the first week week and a half i was doing good.

They say once you have back surgery, theres a very high percentage that later in life you will end up needing it again, as it messes up your other discs. Hopefully not as i woudlnt want to go through the pain i was in before surgery again

    GOOD LUCK
