TO was penalized because he was standing and kneeled down on the ground. once you get up from the ground you can not go back down. so if his knee didnt hit the field he would've been fine

Ok, while I don't know if this true or not, my question now is why do guys who go down on their knees to simulate a prayer not get penalized then?? i've seen many a player go down to one kne almost like they would in church, but they don't get a flag??

That is a good point. My answer to that is that those players who do that aren't TO so they don't get flagged. I'm almost positive you'd never see TO do something that unoriginal.

maybe its just because t o is a self centered ™™™™™™™™™ and the officials have had enough of him and his childish antics. actually, thats not true, but i just wanted to say it.

BOTTEM LINE--talent is one thing, professionalism is another.
is it really to much to ask someone making millions to act like a professional?

lastly--does anybody have a clue as to what they want or expect to gain from their actions? i would contribute to a fund to get them to stop their a$$clown antics.
hell, the WWE doesn't do stuff that stupid.

I think it should be handled the way the excessive celebration penalty was originally meant. If it slows down the pace of the game, penalize it. If it's a short display of emotion that in no way affects the game, no harm. Rodgers was off the field of play and wasn't in the way of the game. TO running to the center of the field and standing on the star did. I like some of the things TO does and don't think they should be penalized, but some of them should.

And to those saying they're professionals and should act like it, you're exactly right. They are professionals in a kid's game that is played for fun and enjoyment...they should act like they're having fun and enjoying themselves.

Wow man, did your local Target or Wal-Mart run out of manpons? Calm down, its football everybody. Even though they get paid a lot of money to play, its okay to have some fun sometimes. Im really surprised with a lot of the responses on this thread. I understand excessive celebrations are a bit much, but who cares man? Let them have fun when they score a TD.

As far as i'm concerned, TD celebrations don't bother me if they aren't over the top ( like T.O. standing on the star when he was a 49er). But its all in good fun, let those guys celebrate. The only ones upset must be the fans of the teams that got scored on and the celebration was done on.

my take, i enjoy seeing the celebrations when they are creative and use some imagination. but IF they arent going to allow celebrations, they should let NO ONE celebrate, they should all just need to give the ball back and go sit on the bench and celebrate.

i think its BS that TO's knee hits the ground so theres a penalty, and a fine, but rogers jumps up, and celebrates with the fans?? he stops the game play longer, he could get seriously hurt since he doesnt know who is sitting there and endless other things. this is a double standard, and is totally unfair, punish one guy for celebrating, punish the rest.

the knee rule is the worst excuse. so if you celebrate with a hand stand, its fine since your knee never hit the ground?

if only players were like marvin harrison or others, those who have acted like pro's and dont go over the top

Ha, I never thought about that. You're right! But I guess since it is "tradition" they don't count that, which is wrong. T.O. let 1 knee his the ground and all of a sudden it's a penalty.

I agree with the having fun thing, but you need to define having fun.
I'm pretty sure the other teams fans aren't having fun.
I'm at home, and i'm not having fun, no matter which team its for.
    Are the officials having fun?
So, its ok for some "jerk" to hold up the game and all the fans, and the people at home, because he's a childish simpletonton that wants attention?
I guess the antics that bother me the most are the ones that say "look at me" and how silly i am. Give me attention. I'm like a 2 year old, where is my binky? I need to grow up.
I THINK THE DIFFERENCE IS THE "LOOK AT ME" DEMONSTRATIONS.

Manpons, oh yeah, t o run out.
